System Innovation is seeking a highly motivated Digital Engineering SME who is passionate about using Digital Engineering to address our customers’ most challenging problems. In this role, the candidate will lead the systems engineering efforts to design, develop and use a digital thread/digital twin framework for additive manufacturing in the Department of the Air Force (DAF).  This is providing a groundbreaking framework that will be used across the DAF.  As a result, the SME is also responsible for coordinating across the DAF (i.e., SAF/AQ, AFRL, AFLCMC, RSO, Warner Robbins AFB and the Digital Transformation Office) industry, and academia to develop training, policy, and guidance to advance the state of practice. 

Digital Engineering responsibilities:

  • Lead Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) activities to identify requirements and relationships, architecture, and testing for the Digital Twin/Digital Thread framework for additive manufacturing.  
  • Define and mitigate risks and opportunities. 
  • Apply business process improvement practices to re-engineer methodologies and principles.
  • Build a community of practice across the Air Force, Industry, and Academia.  Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance the state of practice.
  • Develop policy, guidance, and training for Digital Engineering (to include Digital Thread/Digital Twins).
  •  Develop briefings and assessments to a variety of audiences: government sponsors, prime contractors, professional societies, and academia  

Qualifications

  • B.S. (desired - M.S. or Ph.D.)  in an engineering discipline or related field
  • Minimum 2+ years, up to 10+ years of SE/MBSE experience
  • Strong understanding of how system requirements, design, analysis, verification and validation activities are enabled by MBSE across the engineering lifecycle
  • A self-starter with a passion for Digital Engineering, learning, and continuous improvement; and   demonstrated experience in Digital Engineering.
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities in large scale projects
  •  Proficiency in one or more of the programming languages for quantitative analyses (ex. MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, R).
  • Proficiency in SysML and Cameo.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Clearance 

  • Must be eligible for a Department of Defense security clearance.
