The Hartford is seeking a transformative, customer centric Solution Architect to join the Claims and Operations IT team as we progress through our modernization agenda. If you're a passionate technical leader with a continuous learning mindset and motivation to stay on top of the latest trends in emerging technologies such as AI, Platforms, Products, APIs, Microservices/Micro Frontends, Cloud technologies, SaaS solutions, and more, then this position is for you.

This technical leadership position allows you to apply your strong application design, development, and excellent communication skills. This position will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing innovative end-to-end software architectures that enable strategic business objectives. You will create end-to-end AI and digital-first solution designs spanning across multiple components and technologies in a dynamic, Agile environment. You will also provide technical leadership to project teams as the solution design progresses through implementation into run.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to influence business leaders and shape the business vision by aligning technology strategies with business goals, ensuring that our digital and AI-first approach drives impactful outcomes across the Technology organization.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure alignment with security standards, authentication, and authorization models, while integrating vendor products and services.
  • Provide design supporting the migration of platforms and applications to the cloud, taking advantage of modernization and rationalization opportunities to reduce costs and promote a frugal architecture mindset.
  • Design solutions leveraging SaaS and Native Cloud architectures and services, focusing on rationalizing and modernizing assets.
  • Develop designs and integrations spanning both Mobile and Responsive Web, ensuring they are consumable across all roles.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in solution architecture, application architecture, or senior engineering roles within a largescale enterprise environment.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering endtoend technical solutions that support complex business requirements across multiple systems and teams.
  • Demonstrated success working in matrixed, crossfunctional organizations with product, engineering, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
  • Proven experience architecting solutions using core cloud services, including:
    • AWS: S3, ECS, Lambda, ALB, and related services
    • GCP: Equivalent managed compute, storage, and integration services
  • Strong experience with modern, open technology stacks, including:
    • Programming languages: Java, Python, .NET
    • Frontend technologies: Angular, React
  • Hands on expertise in application and system design, including: Microservices and serviceoriented architectures and Eventdriven and APIbased integration patterns
  • Proven experience with integration technologies such as REST APIs, messaging platforms, streaming, and thirdparty/SaaS integrations.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture at the solution level, including data modeling, storage selection, data flows, and data movement across systems.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and how to design solutions that leverage cloudnative services within enterprise guardrails.
  • Experience defining and validating nonfunctional requirements (performance, scalability, availability, resilience, security, and compliance).
  • Experience developing or designing single-page applications utilizing contemporary frameworks such as Angular/React.
  • Clear understanding of cloud, hybrid cloud, and container deployment architectures including building cloud-ready applications and container orchestration systems.
  • Experience with Micro Frontends (MFEs), demonstrating the ability to design and implement modular and scalable front-end architectures.
  • Experience of working with Agile/SAFe development teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills with the ability to effectively communicate solution recommendations and influence key stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting solutions in regulated or compliancedriven environments (e.g., financial services, healthcare, payments, or large SaaS enterprises) preferred.
  • Cloud certifications and architecture certifications are preferred.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
