Individual Giving & Donor Engagement Manager

Full Time Clerical Austin, TX, US

SUMMARY

The Individual Giving and Donor Engagement Managerreports to the Director of Development and serves as a key contributor to the growth and retention of Meals on Wheels Central Texas’ individual giving program. The fundraising plan will include goals, strategies, and programming that aim to build and engage our donor base, through a robust direct mail and digital program, and also exploring new tools and techniques to expand the existing donor base. This position will work to ensure effective recognition of individuals’ gifts through acknowledgment letters and the delivery of any necessary reports and communications, such as pledge reminders, to appropriate constituents. The Individual Giving and Donor Engagement Manager will work closely with the Director of Development to identify opportunities to upgrade mid-level donors, and expand donor engagement opportunities including giving circles, site tours, and mission-focused experiences. This role requires exceptional storytelling and writing skills, strong project management capabilities, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to continuous improvement through data-informed decision making and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of nonprofit experience with proven ability to successfully engage key constituents in advancing the mission of an organization.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to craft persuasive, donor-centered communications across direct mail, email, digital campaigns, stewardship materials, and fundraising appeals.
  • Impeccable commitment to servant-leadership and an absolute unwillingness to accept mediocrity.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of nonprofit fundraising management and best practices related to donor acquisition, retention, recurring giving, stewardship, and donor engagement.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret donor data, evaluate campaign performance, identify trends, and make recommendations to improve results.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset with a willingness to test new ideas, evaluate results, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships throughout the organization and with external constituencies.
  • Comfort utilizing emerging technologies and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, strengthen communication, and support fundraising efforts.
  • Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal skills, judgement, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Self-starter who is highly accountable, detail-oriented, and driven by results.
  • Experience with donor databases, Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) & Director of Development (DoD) to execute a comprehensive annual giving strategy designed to acquire, retain, reactivate, and upgrade individual donors.
  • Create and manage the production and execution of a multi-channel fundraising calendar that includes direct mail, email, digital campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, workplace giving opportunities, and other annual fundraising efforts.
  • Coordinate campaign logistics, timelines, content development, and internal collaboration to ensure successful campaign execution.
  • Monitor campaign performance and provide recommendations to improve fundraising results based on donor behavior, response rates, and giving trends.
  • Collaborate with program and communications staff to identify impactful stories that demonstrate mission impact and inspire donor support.
  • Ensure fundraising communications reflect organizational brand standards and fundraising best practices.
  • Develop and coordinate donor engagement opportunities that deepen donor connection to the mission, including site tours, giving circles, virtual town halls, volunteer-to-donor engagement opportunities, and other stewardship experiences.
  • Manage and grow donor giving circles by creating meaningful engagement opportunities, communications, and stewardship plans.
  • Support donor recognition efforts and ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful acknowledgement of donor contributions.
  • Partner with the Donor Database Coordinator to ensure accurate donor records, campaign tracking, gift acknowledgement processes, and reporting.
  • Utilize Salesforce reporting and AI-enabled tools to segment donors, track campaign success, produce reports, and conduct appropriate follow-up.
  • Leverage emerging technologies to analyze donor giving behavior and engagement data to identify opportunities to improve donor retention and increase donor lifetime value.
  • Assess individual donors’ giving histories and capacities to identify and cultivate mid-level donor upgrade opportunities.
  • Track and evaluate donor retention, recurring giving, and donor upgrade performance metrics and recommend strategies for continued growth.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Development team.
  • Attend on-site and off-site events, as appropriate.
  • Stay current on annual giving best practices and maximize use of data and other resources to make strategic recommendations and implementations.
