Job description

Home, Hope and Healing (HHH) has an immediate opening for a Director of Nursing (DON). The DON is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operations of the agencys Home Health Program. Our home health program specializes in providing one-on-one, skilled, block time nursing care for clients with medically fragile health conditions.
This is a full-time, salaried position working out of our central office in Smithfield during the weekdays, with flexibility needed to work outside of regular business hours if necessary. Some travel by car to client homes, out-of-town conferences, and meetings.
Primary responsibilities include:
Ensures safe compliance and quality care standards for clients of all ages that receive our home health services. Maintains performance improvement activities and participates in QAPI (quality assurance performance improvement) activities. Assures competency of clinical personnel. Participates in budget planning and maintains efficient and effective client care operations while meeting state, federal and local regulations, laws, and standards.
The DON reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the senior management team. Direct Reports of the DON are Regional Nurse Managers, Clinical Transitions Nurse Manager, and Home Health Client Scheduling Representatives.

Education & Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Valid Maine RN license.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Home Health Nursing Manager preferred.
  • The ability to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, communication, and the application of sound administrative principles.
  • Prior Senior Leadership experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational, collaborative, and people skills.
  • Conversant and able to drive the compliance of home health licensing regulations and payer requirements.
  • Skilled at facilitating meetings and the effective work of others.
  • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize work.
  • Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations involving clients, client family members, physicians, clinical staff, and payer sources.
  • Good computer skills with the ability to use MSOffice products and use of secure networks to type reports and input and view data in databases.
  • Valid Maine Driver's license, reliable transportation, auto liability insurance, and a safe driving record.
