Job description

We are looking for a Digital Product Portfolio Director to shape the future of DNV's portfolio of digital products and data-driven solutions supporting critical energy infrastructure.

This is a highly strategic leadership role for an experienced digital product professional who can operate across products, platforms, markets, and business lines. You will play a key role in helping DNV navigate the rapidly evolving energy landscape by ensuring our digital product portfolio continues to create value for customers, supports business growth, and strengthens our market position.

The digital portfolio has evolved over time through a number of independent products, each addressing specific customer needs and market opportunities. As the portfolio matures, there is a significant opportunity to create greater value by strengthening strategic alignment, leveraging shared capabilities, and adopting a more platform-centric approach. You will play a pivotal role in shaping this evolution, working with Product Managers to help transform a collection of successful products into a more cohesive, scalable, and market-leading product ecosystem.

What you will do

  • Define and own the long-term digital product portfolio and platform strategy, aligning investments, product direction, and platform evolution with business objectives, customer needs, and market opportunities.
  • Lead the transformation of independent product lines into a cohesive, platform-driven product ecosystem with a clear strategic identity, differentiated value proposition, and scalable operating model.
  • Challenge, coach, and mentor product teams, implementing professional product management practices and ensuring portfolio-wide alignment around customer value, business outcomes, and long-term growth objectives.
  • Drive portfolio investment, prioritization, and lifecycle decisions, balancing innovation, growth opportunities, platform development, modernization, and product rationalization.
  • Establish strategic governance across the portfolio, ensuring product roadmaps contribute meaningfully to the long-term portfolio vision while enabling alignment between product, technology, and business priorities.
  • Continuously assess portfolio performance to identify gaps, overlaps, risks, and emerging opportunities, recommending optimization actions that maximize customer impact, commercial value, and competitive advantage.
  • Serve as the principal strategic advisor to Product, Technology, and Business teams, challenging and influencing portfolio investment decisions, strategic priorities, and long-term direction through insight, credibility, and market expertise.

Success in this role requires a unique combination of digital product leadership, strategic thinking, commercial awareness, coaching and mentoring, and influence. You will partner with Product Managers, Technology leaders, Commercial teams, and senior stakeholders across the organization to guide decisions, challenge assumptions, and ensure the portfolio evolves in line with customer needs, market dynamics, and long-term business objectives.

  • Proven ability to coach, challenge and influence Product Managers and experience in implementing best practice in Product Management within diverse teams
  • Experience in delivering results through cross-functional teams, ensuring product strategies and roadmaps align with portfolio objectives and deliver meaningful customer and business value.
  • Experience in the energy sector, with a strong understanding of the customer challenges, market dynamics, and digitalization trends shaping the energy transition.
  • Proven experience defining and executing product and portfolio strategies, translating customer needs, market opportunities, and business objectives into product vision, investment priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong expertise in product portfolio and lifecycle management, including strategic prioritization, investment planning, portfolio optimization, product rationalization, and end-of-life decisions.
  • Deep understanding of platform-based product models and product ecosystems, with experience leveraging shared capabilities, data, and technology platforms to drive scale, innovation, and consistency across multiple products.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and commercial acumen, with exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment in complex matrix organizations without direct authority.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

*Immigration-related employment benefits, for example visa sponsorship, are not available for this position*

This role requires a strategic, forwardlooking mindset with a clear focus on longterm value creation. You operate comfortably in ambiguity, bringing structure, clarity, and focus to complex portfolio challenges and enabling effective decisionmaking with incomplete information. Success depends on your ability to influence without authority-building trust, aligning diverse stakeholders, and driving outcomes through insight and credibility. A collaborative approach, constructive challenge, and a strong sense of ownership and accountability enable you to operate effectively as a senior individual contributor and drive impact through others.
