We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Engineer at our Manufacturing Facility in Jacksonville, IL.


The Senior Engineer provides advanced engineering leadership to improve manufacturing performance through the planning, execution, and delivery of complex capital and process improvement initiatives. This position partners across engineering, operations, maintenance, quality, and supply chain to enhance safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and cost performance. The role exercises significant independent judgment in evaluating technical solutions, managing project execution, and influencing operational decisions while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Engineering & Capital Projects

  • Lead capital projects from concept through implementation, ensuring delivery within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop project scopes, engineering specifications, cost estimates, business justifications, and implementation plans that support business objectives.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement manufacturing process and equipment improvements that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate project execution with operations, maintenance, contractors, suppliers, and engineering partners to ensure successful project delivery.  

Manufacturing & Operations

  • Provide technical leadership to improve manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, and operational performance.
  • Analyze manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions that improve overall equipment effectiveness and reduce operating costs.
  • Support commissioning, startup, validation, and performance optimization of new or modified manufacturing equipment.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, product quality, throughput, yield, and cost performance.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering solutions to strengthen manufacturing capabilities and support long-term operational strategies.
  • Standardize engineering practices and recommend improvements that increase process consistency and operational excellence.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, procurement, and other business functions to align engineering solutions with organizational priorities.
  • Build productive relationships with equipment suppliers, contractors, and engineering partners to ensure effective project execution and technical support.
  • Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance to support plant and corporate initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture by incorporating safe engineering principles into equipment design, project execution, and manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable company policies, regulatory requirements, and engineering standards.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks throughout project lifecycles.

Education/Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 6+ years of progressive engineering experience supporting manufacturing or industrial operations.

Preferred

  • Experience in a polyethylene bag-making environment
  • Rockwell PLC Programming experience
  • Lean Six Sigma training and certification
  • Previous project management certification and/or experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong engineering and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience leading engineering projects from planning through implementation.
  • Experience supporting capital improvement projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong project planning, organization, and execution skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ability to evaluate technical alternatives and make sound engineering decisions.
  • Experience with OT systems including PLCs and their connectivity
  • Familiarity with computer programming/scripting (Python, API’s, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AI tools and usage
  • Familiarity with computer networking protocols
  • Requires database programming skills (SQL)
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
