Job Summary/Description:

Regional Digital Director — Kentucky (WKYT, WYMT, WSAZ, WBKO, WDRB, WAVE, WFIE)
Gray Media is seeking a Regional Digital Director to serve as a digital content strategy and operations leader for our stations WKYT, WYMT, WSAZ, WBKO, WDRB, WAVE, and WFIE.

This position can be based at any station in the region.

In this role, you will organize and lead digital content sharing and platform optimizations, fostering best practices that unlock sustained audience growth across all stations in the region.

You will help fill in unexpected staffing gaps at individual stations in the group.

Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

You’ll be the day-to-day leader of digital content production for stations in the region, providing hands-on help and guidance with producing and distributing content for these stations, in addition to leading special content initiatives that benefit all stations in the group.

Expertise in production and distribution for web, apps, and CTV/livestream is required, along with an audience analytics-based approach to content distribution.
You will help fill in unexpected staffing gaps at individual stations in the group.

You will work in concert with the corporate digital content team to create standard operating practices and workflow documents as a playbook for stations in the region that focus on:

• Breaking news/weather execution
• Packaging content appropriate for individual distribution channels
• Push notification guidelines and optimization
• Ensuring quality user experience across all station digital products
• Live streaming guidelines and execution
• How to interpret analytics to grow audience
• Produce regular performance reports for station leadership teams
• You will regularly be involved with editorial meetings to help shape coverage plans into digital execution.
• You will have regular groupwide calls with station digital content leaders to review performance, align priorities and coordinate content distribution.

Your success will be measured by:
• Improved speed, quality and audience growth from breaking news publishing across the stations.
• Sustained audience growth across all digital distribution points (web, news/weather apps, CTV apps and total livestreams)
• Increased CTV users and watch time
• Improved push notification CTR

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 7+ years of digital news leadership experience (TV/local news, digital-first newsroom, or equivalent).
• Strong writing ability and editorial judgment
• Demonstrated ability to create audience growth plans and spread them to the region.

Proven experience with:
   o Cross-station collaboration and content sharing systems
   o Content management systems and workflows
   o SEO/Discover headline writing and story packaging
   o Analytics/KPIs
   o Push notification strategy
   o Streaming/CTV and livestream programming operations
   o Creating SOPs, templates, checklists, and training programs

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable working with GMs/NDs and digital teams.
Work Style & Travel
• Location: Based at any station in the region with hybrid flexibility
• Travel: periodic travel within KY markets for newsroom immersion, training, and major coverage support.
