Job description

The Digital Learning & Communications Specialist is a versatile communications professional responsible for supporting the development, management, and dissemination of digital content across learning platforms and communications channels. This role combines learning management system (LMS) administration, content development, social media execution, and accessibility compliance to ensure high-quality, user-friendly, and compliant materials for both internal and external audiences.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical and creative skills who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

Learning Management System (Moodle) Administration

  • Manage and maintain the organization’s Moodle LMS, including course setup, content uploads, and system organization and administration
  • Build and update course shells, learning modules, and resource libraries
  • Monitor course functionality, user engagement, and completion metrics
  • Provide basic technical support to staff and program teams using the LMS
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to adapt content for online delivery
  • Document workflows, standards, and best practices for sustained LMS use

Content Development & Design

  • Create basic visual assets for digital and print communications (e.g., social posts, flyers, presentations)
  • Support development of user-friendly, visually consistent materials aligned with organizational branding

Social Media & Digital Communications

  • Draft, design, and schedule social media content across social platforms
  • Monitor engagement and assist with reporting on social media performance
  • Support website updates and digital content posting as needed
  • Assist in the development of newsletters and other communications deliverables

Section 508 Accessibility & Compliance

  • Perform 508 remediation on PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, and other digital documents
  • Ensure communications and training materials meet federal and state accessibility standards
  • Apply best practices for accessible design (e.g., alt text, reading order, color contrast)
  • Support internal teams in improving accessibility compliance across materials

Project & Team Support

  • Collaborate with communications and program teams on cross-functional initiatives
  • Track and manage assigned projects to ensure timely delivery
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to planning and execution of communications strategies
  • Support special projects, events, and training initiatives as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Attention to detail, particularly in accessibility and compliance requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field, required.
  • Two (2) – four (4) years of experience with a learning management system (preferably Moodle or similar LMS), required.
  • Experience in communications, digital content, or learning support roles, required.
  • Experience creating and managing digital content and social media preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Section 508 accessibility or willingness to learn preferred.
  • Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools, preferred.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) and remediation techniques preferred.
  • Experience working in a healthcare, nonprofit, or government contracting environment preferred.

This position is office based at our Jericho, NY office.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. The annualized salary range for this position is $68,000.00 – $78,000.00. Actual salary range and /or hourly rate depends on a variety of factors including experience, education, credentials, location, and budget.
