Familiarity with tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, and sometimes basic web design platforms or prototyping tools is typically expected. Both roles are entry-level internships focusing on design skills. Digital Design Interns typically work on digital media, websites, and app interfaces, requiring familiarity with digital tools and UI/UX principles. Graphic Design Interns often focus on print and branding projects, emphasizing visual design and Adobe Creative Suite skills. While overlapping in foundational design knowledge, their work environments and project types differ, making each role suited to different career interests within the design industry.

What types of projects do digital design interns typically work on, and how do they contribute to the overall team?

Digital Design Interns are usually involved in a range of projects such as creating digital assets for websites, social media campaigns, email marketing, and sometimes assisting in UI/UX design tasks. They work closely with senior designers, developers, and marketing teams to ensure visual consistency and brand alignment across various platforms. Interns often attend brainstorming sessions, receive feedback on their drafts, and participate in project reviews, giving them valuable exposure to collaborative workflows. This hands-on involvement helps them develop practical skills and an understanding of professional design processes.

What does a digital design intern do?

A Digital Design Intern assists design teams in creating visual content for digital platforms, such as websites, social media, and mobile applications. Their responsibilities often include working on graphics, layouts, and user interface elements, while gaining hands-on experience with design software like Adobe Creative Suite or Figma. They also collaborate with other team members, follow brand guidelines, and help bring creative concepts to life under the supervision of senior designers. This role is a great opportunity for students or recent graduates to build their portfolio and develop professional skills in a real-world environment.
