The Web Content Manager / Digital Communications Specialist provides web content management, digital communications, and information management support for a Communications and Outreach program supporting executive leadership, workforce engagement, stakeholder communications, and organizational awareness initiatives.


This role is responsible for developing, organizing, publishing, and maintaining digital content across internal and external communications platforms, including SharePoint, Drupal, intranet environments, knowledge repositories, and other enterprise communications channels. The position supports content strategy, information architecture, content governance, and user-focused digital communications practices to ensure information is accessible, organized, accurate, and aligned with organizational objectives.


The Web Content Manager / Digital Communications Specialist works closely with writers, editors, graphic designers, communications personnel, technical subject matter experts, and leadership stakeholders to create and maintain engaging digital experiences that improve information accessibility, stakeholder engagement, and mission awareness.


Key Responsibilities


Web Content Development & Management

  • Develop, edit, publish, and maintain digital content supporting organizational communications, stakeholder engagement, workforce communications, and outreach initiatives.
  • Create and manage both short-form and long-form web content
  • Ensure web content remains current, accurate, accessible, and aligned with organizational messaging and communications objectives.
  • Support content lifecycle management, including content review, updates, archiving, version control, and governance activities.
  • Coordinate content publication activities and maintain publishing schedules across multiple digital communications channels.
  • Information Architecture & Content Organization
  • Organize and structure digital content using information architecture principles that improve user navigation, discoverability, and engagement.
  • Create compelling content elements including taglines, headlines, vignettes, etc.
  • Apply user-centered content practices that improve readability, usability, and information discovery across digital platforms.
  • Support development of content governance standards and publishing best practices that improve consistency and user experience.

SharePoint & Drupal Content Administration

  • Manage content within SharePoint, Drupal, and other enterprise content management systems.
  • Create, maintain, and organize digital repositories, resource libraries, and information-sharing environments.
  • Configure and maintain content structures, page layouts, document libraries, navigation elements, metadata, and content categories as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with technical teams and site administrators to support publishing workflows, permissions, content migrations, and site maintenance activities.
  • Support content quality assurance activities and ensure digital content complies with organizational standards and publishing requirements.

Knowledge Management & Repository Support

  • Maintain organized digital knowledge repositories supporting workforce communications, program documentation, communications assets, and stakeholder resources.
  • Develop content standards and organizational approaches that improve information consistency, accessibility, and reuse.
  • Coordinate document management activities, version control practices, content inventories, and repository maintenance efforts.
  • Support organizational knowledge-sharing initiatives through effective content organization and digital information management practices.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting web content management, digital communications, knowledge management, or content administration activities.
  • Experience developing and maintaining content within SharePoint, Drupal, content management systems, or comparable digital publishing environments.
  • Experience creating, organizing, and maintaining digital content repositories and knowledge-sharing platforms.
  • Understanding of information architecture, content organization, metadata management, tagging strategies, and content governance principles.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with experience producing both short-form and long-form digital content.
  • Experience supporting content publication workflows, document management practices, and stakeholder coordination activities.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, collaboration tools, and digital publishing platforms.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Federal Government communications, outreach, knowledge management, or enterprise communications programs.
  • Experience with Drupal content administration and web publishing workflows.
