The Digital Content Creator role is designed to strengthen the visibility, engagement, and recruitment efforts of Northland Community & Technical College through authentic digital storytelling, social-first content creation, and vertical video production. While this position primarily supports Northland Pioneers Athletics, opportunities may also exist to create content that highlights academic programs, student life, campus events, and other college initiatives.
Working closely with coaches, student-athletes, the Athletics Department, and the Marketing & Communications team, this individual captures and produces engaging content that showcases the student-athlete experience, promotes athletic programs, and builds meaningful connections with prospective students, current students, alumni, fans, and the community. Responsibilities include short-form video creation, game-day and event coverage, student-athlete features, behind-the-scenes storytelling, and recruitment-focused content designed for social and digital platforms.
The Digital Content Creator serves as a content development resource for Athletics and Marketing & Communications, providing timely, brand-aligned vertical video assets that support institutional marketing, recruitment, and engagement efforts. This position also assists coaches and other content contributors by sharing best practices, promoting brand consistency, and identifying opportunities to strengthen Northland's digital presence. This position has hours that vary. Day time, evening, weekends, etc. This is a part time position.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of para-professional experience, OR combination of post-secondary training, education, and/or experience, that demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities in marketing, communications, advertising, business, management or related field.
  • Experience creating content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or other social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging short-form video content.
  • Experience with CapCut, Canva, Adobe Express, or similar content creation tools.
  • Strong understanding of current social media trends and audience engagement strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to represent Northland Athletics in a positive and professional manner.
  • Able to use varying styles, approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse multicultural workplace.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing a social media account for a team, organization, business, student club, or personal brand.
  • Experience creating content that generated strong engagement or audience growth.
  • Familiarity with collegiate athletics and student-athlete culture.
  • Basic graphic creation skills using Canva or similar tools.
