Digital Construction Engineer
Location: El Dorado Hills, CA

Roebbelen is seeking a Digital Construction Engineer to support the use of BIM, VDC, reality capture, and collaborative technology across our projects.
In this role, you will work alongside experienced digital construction and project team members to coordinate models, identify and track clashes, maintain project technology platforms, prepare coordination materials, and help translate digital information into successful field execution.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with foundational BIM or VDC experience who wants to expand their technical knowledge, gain greater exposure to construction operations, and grow toward project-level digital construction leadership.
What You'll Do
  • Support project-specific Digital Project Delivery and Collaboration plans from preconstruction through field execution.
  • Maintain Autodesk Construction Cloud environments, including folder organization, permissions, file naming, model uploads, and coordinate systems.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of federated coordination models in Revizto or other approved platforms.
  • Perform clash detection, organize and document coordination issues, prepare reports, and monitor issues through resolution.
  • Prepare agendas, model views, issue logs, and other materials for design and trade coordination meetings.
  • Document decisions and action items and help ensure assigned items are completed.
  • Review design and trade partner model submissions for completeness and compliance with project standards.
  • Support model-based quantity takeoffs, constructability reviews, preliminary clash analysis, and risk assessment during preconstruction and GMP development.
  • Assist with laser scanning, 360-degree capture, drone documentation, scan-to-BIM processing, and other reality-capture activities.
  • Coordinate with project teams, Self-Perform teams, and field personnel to help translate coordinated models into accurate layout and installation information.
  • Visit project sites to validate model-to-field accuracy and observe installation progress.
  • Support training and provide technical guidance to project teams, design professionals, owners, and trade partners.
  • Contribute to BIM and VDC materials for pursuits and proposals.
  • Continue developing your technical skills while progressively assuming greater responsibility.

What We're Looking For
  • Two or more years of experience in construction, BIM, VDC coordination, digital construction, modeling, detailing, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revizto, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, or similar collaboration tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Experience identifying, documenting, and appropriately elevating technical or coordination issues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and follow assignments through completion.
  • Clear and professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with project teams, field personnel, design professionals, owners, construction managers, and trade partners.
  • Familiarity with Lean construction or collaborative project delivery practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous experience as a VDC Engineer, BIM Coordinator, Digital Builder, Modeler, Detailer, or in a similar supporting role.
  • Experience with Revizto workflows, reality capture, scan-to-BIM, or total station layout systems such as Trimble or Leica.
  • Familiarity with K-12 construction, lease-leaseback delivery, or DSA requirements.
  • Exposure to 4D scheduling, 5D estimating, model-based quantity takeoffs, or constructability analysis.
  • Interest in developing toward project-level digital construction leadership.

Work Environment
