About DVS
The mission of the Department of Veterans' Services is to connect, mobilize, and empower New York City's Veteran Community in order to foster purpose-driven lives for New York City Service Members - past and present - in addition to their caregivers, survivors, and families. DVS fulfills this mission by providing New York City's approximately 200,000 Veterans with essential services and programs focused on pivotal areas such as economic empowerment, housing security, benefits, health and wellness, and culture.
About the Role: Digital Communications Manager
Under direction, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, manages and supports the agency's digital communications operations to advance public awareness of programs, services, events, and initiatives serving veterans and their families. Supports the planning, development, and execution of digital content and public-facing communications materials across multiple platforms to ensure information is timely, accurate, accessible, and aligned with agency goals.
Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the agency's day-to-day digital communications efforts across website, email, social media, and related digital platforms.
- Develop, write, edit, and publish digital content, including graphics, videos, photographs, flyers, and other multimedia materials.
- Produce public-facing communications materials to promote agency programs, services, campaigns, and special events.
- Maintain and update the agency website, including posting new content and revising existing pages to ensure accuracy, usability, and accessibility.
- Oversee production and distribution of the agency's email newsletter and related digital outreach
communications.
- Monitor, compile, and analyze digital communications metrics and prepare reports on performance, reach, and audience engagement.
- Coordinate print and digital advertising placements in support of agency initiatives and outreach efforts.
- Provide communications support for agency events, including pre-event promotion, on-site coverage, and post-event content development.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of public programs, outreach events, and special initiatives.
- Serve as liaison to relevant communications partners, including City Hall press staff and external stakeholders, as needed.
- Serve as an on-site communications representative during public events and community engagements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with Veteran Service Organizations, community-based organizations, partner agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate language access needs for digital and print communications materials in accordance with agency and citywide standards.
- Support the development and implementation of multimedia campaigns from concept through completion.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
