About the job:

The Communications Manager for the Health Plan is responsible for the strategy and day-to-day management of the health plan’s membership retention. Responsible for implementing tradition and digital communications strategies to communicate to membership, enable member interactions and feedback, and strengthen the health plan brand. The Communications Manager provides strategic direction; fully understands regulatory requirements for both state and federal compliance; coordinates development and implementation of plan items; manages provider recruiting/communications needs; manages member communications needs; manages internal and public relations for Health Plan; reviews, reports and optimizes plans based on analytics and campaign data; and identifies and develops test plans around emerging marketing trends in the health plan industry. It will be critical that the Communications Manager builds positive relationships with Trinity Health Ministry communications leaders, including them in planning and execution where needed. This position also works in tandem with the Digital Marketing Manager to forecast technology needs and ensure CRM and website usage is appropriate and supportive of the larger acquisition strategy.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborates with the Communications Manager and fellow marketing communications team members to contribute to communication goals and plans.
  • Monitors and reports applicable communications assignments.
  • Oversees the completion of regulated communication materials including production, printing and fulfillment.
  • Executes communications for product brands in accordance to Health Plan brand standards.
  • Writes, edits and proofreads content with excellence and at a senior level for advocacy, operational/internal, and member communications, assuring that messaging effectively engages target audience and reflects the individual product brands.
  • Ensures all communications are compliant with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and local Department of Insurance requirements.
  • Handles CMS communication filings through Health Plan Management System (HPMS).
  • Implements and ensures policies and procedures related to communications are understood and executed consistently.
  • Responsible for managing external resources related to communications initiatives.
  • Meets population specific and all other competencies according to department requirements.
  • Promotes a Culture of Safety by adhering to policy, procedures and plans that are in place to prevent workplace injury, violence or adverse outcome to associates and patients.
  • Responsible for keeping all activities associated with assigned responsibilities compliant with state and federal regulations that guide such.
  • Continuously identifies and implements cost savings approaches to Communications.
  • Maintains professional affiliations within the field of Communications to best represent Health Plan interests.
  • Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Journalism.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years work experience or equivalent professional experience in the field of Communications or related field and 2 years management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in health insurance and/or health care; experience with senior population is a plus.
  • Ability to read, understand and apply compliance and regulatory information related to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regulated guidance in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams (across all levels of the organization).
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, plan analytically, and execute tasks using exceptional prioritization skills.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills to AP style; mentor others for writing for the brand and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously; strong organizational skills; highly self-motivated and self-directed; and attentive to detail. Must be able to work under the pressure of tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to use Microsoft Office, Teams, and Project Management tools.
  • Proven ability to contribute to effective and productive teams.
  • Proven ability to improve processes related to marketing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships and work as a member of a team, both inside and outside the communications department.
