Position Summary:
This position will work in collaboration with the rest of the Digital Media Arts team to provide support for day-to-day operations of the studios, labs, equipment loans, and classrooms used in the Digital Media Arts Program.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Actively assist students during lab and studio access hours.
โ€ข Oversee and participate directly in equipment check-in and check-out processes, working alongside students to ensure proper handling and use.
โ€ข Guide students in selecting appropriate equipment based on assignment requirements and faculty-defined project parameters.
โ€ข Set up and tear down classrooms/labs/studios with materials, configurations, and equipment, as required by faculty.
โ€ข Perform routine preventative maintenance on lab and studio equipment to ensure functionality and longevity, as assigned.
โ€ข Complete minor equipment repairs within established guidelines and report larger repair needs to full-time faculty, as assigned.
โ€ข Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of equipment for instructional use, projects, and scheduled activities.
โ€ข Help troubleshoot and resolve common media systems and equipment issues in labs and studios, escalating complex problems as needed to Lab Coordinator and full-time faculty.
โ€ข Coordinate the organization, readiness, and appropriate use of rooms and spaces associated with the disciplines.
โ€ข Maintain a professional on-campus presence to support students, faculty, and lab/studio operations.
โ€ข Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support the effective performance of assigned duties, enhance productivity, improve communication and information management, support decision-making, and other responsibilities, while ensuring compliance with confidentiality requirements, institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
โ€ข Perform other related duties as assigned by full-time faculty and Lab Coordinator.
Hours/Schedule:
This position will not exceed 25 hrs per week with variable hours- nights, evenings, and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
โ€ข Equivalent of eighteen (18) months of related work experience.
โ€ข Proficiency with Mac and PC operating systems and hardware.
โ€ข Proficiency with relevant industry standard editing, graphics and animation software.
โ€ข Willingness to constantly upgrade software and hardware skill sets.
โ€ข Demonstrated attention to detail in both accuracy and efficiency.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse students of all ages, ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds.
โ€ข Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
โ€ข Ability to work with autonomy and within a team environment.
โ€ข Effective communication and customer service skills.
โ€ข Ability to use workplace technology relevant to the position, including the capacity to learn and appropriately leverage emerging AI-supported tools. Ability to assess the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated content, maintain confidentiality, and apply sound judgment and ethical practices in the use of technology.
