Job description

Skillforce is hiring experienced die casting toolmakers willing to commit to long-term travel work near Milwaukee, WI supporting operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aluminum high pressure die casting at a plant located outside of Milwaukee, WI. This position focuses on keeping production dies running at peak performance through repair, revision, and continuous improvement.

Travel & Per Diem:

  • Ability to travel home every two weeks or as needed
  • Per diem of $200/a day for all seven days while traveling ($1,400 weekly)
  • When traveling, your time is compensated at your regular hourly rate
  • If traveling by personal vehicle, mileage will be reimbursed at $0.70 per mile
  • If traveling by air, the flight will be provided, with reimbursement for rental car and fuel

Shift Options / Schedule: 6-7 days per week / 12 hr shifts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rework and repair aluminum die casting tools using prints, models, and engineering direction
  • Machine components using CNC equipment, mills, lathes, grinders, and other shop tools
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and production delays
  • Troubleshoot worn or damaged tooling and make necessary corrections
  • Support engineering with tooling updates that improve cycle time and casting quality
  • Participate in die trials and validation runs
  • Inspect tooling to confirm dimensional accuracy and performance standards
  • Maintain documentation on repairs and modifications
  • Provide shop floor support when die performance issues arise

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on toolmaking experience in aluminum HPDC
  • Must have previous die casting experience
  • Strong understanding of die casting tooling, materials, and machining practices
  • Ability to independently program in Siemens NX preferred
  • Skilled with CNC machines and manual machining equipment
  • Comfortable reading complex prints and models
  • Detail oriented with solid troubleshooting ability
