Position: Passenger Driver - HRR (CDL)
Department: Hualapai River Running
Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: NE4

Position Summary:
Operates 15 passenger vans or buses requiring a Commercial Drivers' License (CDL). Provides timely and safe transportation of customers and river crew members to Diamond Creek raft launch location and on return once rafting trip is completed. Ensures passengers and their personal possessions are accounted for throughout the transport. Provides information to guests regarding their rafting trip, the Grand Canyon, the Colorado River, the history and culture of the Hualapai and other points of interest. Maintains cleanliness of vans and buses, washes, wipes seats, cleans windows and removes trash. Monitors fluid levels of vehicles and completes maintenance logs. On return trips from launch point and to pick up point, police roadside for trash and debris. Provides outstanding customer service.
Knowledge and Abilities:
1. Ability to operate 15 passenger vans and buses in a safe manner.
2. Ability to communicate in a clear concise manner while being personable, courteous and friendly.
3. Ability to interact with guests and tour groups providing prompt, outstanding service while providing information.
4. Ability to discuss all aspects of the Grand Canyon, Colorado River, Hualapai River Running and Hualapai history and culture.
5. Ability to monitor vehicle fluid levels and clean vehicles.
6. Ability to work in a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
7. Experience driving large passenger vans or buses and possess a Commercial Drivers' License with passenger endorsement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Operate 15 passenger vans and buses requiring a Commercial Drivers' License. Transport passengers to the Diamond Creek launch location and then pick-up to transport back to Peach Springs, once their raft trip is completed.
2. Ensure passengers and their personal possessions are accounted for throughout the transport.
3. Provide information regarding the Grand Canyon, Colorado River, Hualapai River Running and Hualapai history and culture.
4. Police roadside for trash and debris on return from Diamond Creek and on the way to pick up point, if time permits.
5. Monitor fluid levels of oil, transmission, differential, brakes, etc. and fill as needed at the beginning and end of shift. Complete maintenance log for vehicle.
6. Maintain clean vehicles by washing, wiping seats, cleaning windows and emptying trash, as needed.
7. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Good oral and interpersonal communication skills.
2. Valid Driver's License with clean driving record.
3. High School Diploma or GED.
4. Commercial Drivers' License with a passenger endorsement.
5. Minimum of 21 years of age.
6. Customer service experience preferred.
7. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
Working Conditions:
Requires transport of passengers over paved and non-paved primitive roads for extended periods of time. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
Applicant must pass a pre-employment drug screen and extensive background check may be required. All applicants are considered without regard to age, sex, race, national origin, religion, marital status or physical disability. However, preference may be given to persons of Indian decent in accordance with Public law 88-353, Section 703 (7-2-71) and Public Law 93-638, Section 7B
Grand Canyon Resort Corporation (GCRC) is wholly-owned by the Hualapai Tribe and is located in Peach Springs, Arizona. In 1988, the Hualapai People, who have been part of this land since time immemorial, established GCRC, welcoming millions of visitors each year to tour the area. The year 1883 is when the reservation was established, and occupiers are usually foreign to the land they occupy. To further increase tourism in the area, the Grand Canyon Skywalk was built in 2007. The Skywalk is a glass, horseshoe-shaped bridge that enables visitors to walk beyond the canyon walls at Grand Canyon West, suspending them 4,000 feet above the riverbed and providing an unparalleled view of this natural wonder.
