DHL Express is seeking for a Senior Manager - Global Aviation Component Logistics - Global Aviation based in the United States.

The Global Aviation Group is committed to managing programs that enable DHL Express's owned and partner airlines achieve standardized processes, service excellence and lowest operating cost. They target to do this by constantly reviewing and enhancing the reliability, efficiency, and on time performance of the global fleet in budget and on schedule. The role of the Program Manager will Work with DHL owned airlines and airlines partners participating in joint parts pooling programs to establish and document best logistics practices using DHL Group services to move aircraft components the quickest and most efficient way.  It will create standard shipping processes and procedures.


How you will contribute

Key Tasks and Accountabilities

  • Creates standard shipping processes and procedures
  • Follow up on AOG and critical shipments through the development of priority codes/reported alerts throughout the network
  • Arrange transportation, warehousing, or product distribution of imported or exported components. Including requesting quotes for oversized or out of gauge shipments alignment to ensure delivery of a Global standard solutions
  • Develop and execute supply line
  • Create processes and procedures to facilitate the import/export of aviation components and logistics matters such as clearance of goods through Customs - SME for issues.
  • Manage relationship with freight forwarders and brokers to coordinate the transport of goods to final destinations in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a point of contact for logistics-related questions and provides updates on processes / procedures as required
  • Set up strategic supplies to support the supply line and create processes / procedures for implementation
  • Create standard process for packing, shipping and documenting of all outgoing parts and materials
  • Create standard process for preparing documents for the shipment of dangerous goods.
  • Negotiate shipping agreements on long term agreements. This would include shipment of large parts such as engines, thrust reversers, etc.
  • Create standard process for managing all customs requirements regarding imports and exports ensuring all requirements are complied with and train key members of each airline
  • Participation in cross-functional projects / initiatives 
  • Develop logistics supplier performance and cost reporting and facilitate supplier performance reviews
  • All other duties as assigned by Tech Ops Management
  • Training of all shipping processes and procedures with all maintenance shipping contracts set up by global tech ops

Who you are
  • 5 - 7 years of Supply Chain Management (preferred) with experience in Aviation Component Logistics, including at least 3 - 4 years of supervisory or management experience 
  • BS/BA or minimum of 7 years equivalent logistics work experience
  • Requires proven knowledge and handling of project and program management methodology and techniques including prioritization of project requirements and roll out strategies
  • Successful and proven track record of practical experience in project management, which was gained through managing large and complex projects
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Broad-based computer knowledge with a good understanding of information systems needs related to the logistics industry
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the DHL Express Network with a good understanding of logistics and transportation within the Express industry is preferred
  • Very strong analytical thinking, systems thinking and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems
  • Proven ability in report writing and able to prepare analytical reports highlighting and interpreting key business information
  • Excellent skills in communication, presenting, negotiating, and influencing

  • Ability to work collaboratively with global and regional aviation teams
