What are some common challenges faced by professionals during DevOps training, and how can they be overcome?

One common challenge during DevOps training is bridging the gap between development and operations mindsets, as these teams often have different priorities and workflows. Adapting to new tools and automation processes can also be daunting, especially for those with limited prior exposure. To overcome these challenges, it’s helpful to participate in hands-on labs, collaborate closely with peers, and seek mentorship from experienced DevOps practitioners. Regular practice and open communication within cross-functional teams also accelerate learning and integration.

What is DevOps training?

DevOps training is a specialized educational program designed to teach individuals the principles, practices, and tools of DevOps, a collaborative approach to software development and IT operations. The training covers topics such as continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), automation, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and collaboration between development and operations teams. It aims to help participants understand how to improve software quality, increase deployment speed, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within organizations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in DevOps training, and why are they important?

To excel in DevOps training, you need a solid understanding of software development, system administration, and networking fundamentals, often supported by a background in computer science or relevant IT experience. Familiarity with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, as well as certifications like AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Docker Certified Associate, is highly beneficial. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability skills help individuals navigate fast-changing environments and foster effective teamwork. These competencies are crucial to streamline software delivery, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure continuous integration and deployment within organizations.

What is the difference between Devops Training vs Cloud Engineer?

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with our corporate leaders for document management to become the Excellence through Quality (EtQ) subject matter expert, and system administrator for the location
  • Link training to losses and plant KPIs using root cause analysis and KPI trees; consolidate Man & Method losses in partnership with all departments and site leadership
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering & Reliability, Production, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Human Resources (HR), and other departments and functions to identify trends, build training plans by work center, and support policy deployment
  • Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) department on completion of mandatory compliance training efforts
  • Work closely with HR on the cadence of new-hire integration and support scheduling and proctoring of pre-employment assessments
  • Maintain the LMS (assignments, records, certifications) and generate training status reports
  • Work closely with the corporate learning and development team for any training compliance needed for the facility (e.g. Cornerstone)
  • Facilitate effective communications with work centers (goals, measures, standards) and coordinate team meetings as needed
  • Support change management, strategic planning, and auditing related to training systems
  • Verify and validate training projects
  • Present priorities to the site Steering Committee
  • Create and facilitate skills gap reduction efforts and projects
  • Measure training effectiveness, perform post-training evaluations, develop action plans, and close gaps
  • Develop training materials with subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Select trainers/trainees and manage the training matrix for the facility
  • Monitor on-time/in-full, continuous improvement, 5S, and routine management completion targets
  • Identify, benchmark, and maintain learning infrastructure (training rooms, conference rooms, training methods, digital training tools) to support training delivery and utilization
  • Collaborate with other plant locations to address offsite training needs and share best practices
  • Assist with the coordination and logistics of onsite training for employees from other locations
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered based on site policy.
  • 5+ years of experience delivering or coordinating adult learning/training, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to support cross-functional teams and NOS routines
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize responsibly; able to balance multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems.
  • Strong organization and prioritization; comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Ability to travel to other plants, or training providers
Preferred Qualifications
