Site Reliability Engineer/Cloud Engineer Intern Job Description

The role will work closely with cross-functional team in a collaborative environment to ensure high availability, performance, and automation of systems while gaining hands-on experience in cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and site reliability engineering principles. Our goal is to enhance and support cloud-based transformations, and to focused on pushing capabilities forward, staying ahead of customer needs and innovating for continuous improvement.

This position will be based in Birmingham, AL. Interns will be onsite at the Birmingham headquarters.
Responsibilities
  • Support the team to ensure system reliability, scalability, and uptime.

  • Assist to incident response and root cause analysis to improve system resilience.

  • Help monitor and maintain cloud resources to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.

  • Actively participate brainstorming sessions, and technical discussions and provide suggestions.

  • Participate in automation and continuous process improvement cycles.

  • Work alongside senior team members on assigned task.

Qualifications:
  • Working on a BS degree in a computer related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering)

  • Familiarly with SRE principles

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and technologies (Google Cloud preferred)

  • Familiarity with web technology, DevOps monitoring tools

  • Familiarity of DevOps practices (e.g. CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and orchestration)

  • Must be self-motivated and know when to seek guidance.

  • Individual must be a self-starter and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and operation support skills.
