This position requires an individual who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and works hard to benefit the company as well as themself. There are many facets to all our projects, from this position we will need aid in facilitating the needs and requirements of a project so that we, as a team, are efficient and productive.
Job Summary:
Engineer I is an entry-level engineer-in-training (EIT) position designed to support ongoing civil engineering projects by assisting with design, planning, surveying, and inspection activities. Reporting to a licensed engineer, this role provides foundational experience in project development, technical calculations, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding ethical and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with basic design tasks, including preparing civil engineering plans, specifications, and designs for projects including roads, water systems, sewage, & stormwater infrastructure.
  • Become proficient in Carlson AutoCAD. This will likely require additional external resources, such as Carlson Academy, and some self-discipline to learn the basics of the program. ACAI Engineering will also consider compensation for outsourced training classes.
  • To facilitate advancement in yourself and your career, we would like you to obtain your Professional Engineering License after your 4-year requirement is met. We recommend that you take your P.E. and F.E. before getting that 4-year mark.
  • Conduct field activities such as site inspections, surveys, soil testing, and data collection in compliance with sound engineering principles.
  • Prepare plans through the review of specifications from the governing government agencies.
  • Perform calculations to analyze project parameters such as detention pond calculations, flow rates, and pipe sizing.
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities. This can include, but is not limited to, email organization, field observations, proper computer filing, construction costs, and status reports.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders, participate in project meetings, cost estimates, and communication efforts.
  • Follow ethical standards, safety procedures, and promote professionalism and respect within the work environment.
 
Job Compensation & Details:
  • This position will be primarily based out of our office to facilitate planning, team building, and a better understanding of our resources and services. 
  • This is a salary position that is paid out weekly.
  • CE hours will be paid for by the company provided prior approval was given.
  • ACAI Engineering will pay for the first PE & FE exam. We will also provide 2 paid days off for each of the exams (day before and of the exam).
  • The employee is responsible for providing transportation to the home office on each workday. If work-related travel is necessary, ACAI Engineering will provide a vehicle for use. If a vehicle is unavailable, ACAI Operations will reimburse mileage at the federal rate per mile.
