Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Devops Platform Engineer to support a major national laboratory. 

We are looking for a DevOps Platform Engineer who can implement, maintain, patch, and automate cloud and containerized services. The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving abilities, experience with Azure and OpenShift, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams. The candidate must be able to team with others daily, handle multiple tasks at once, and solve problems that are opaque and ambiguous in nature. Candidates should expect to collaborate continuously with team members throughout the day using a chat-based system and manage a high volume of communication, filtering information as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and patch Azure-hosted web services based on provided architecture diagrams, cybersecurity reviews, and approved deployment patterns.
  • Manage OpenShift services, deployments, routes, secrets/configuration, and Helm-based application releases.
  • Support operational maintenance activities including service restarts, certificate updates, vulnerability remediation, patch validation, environment configuration changes, and production/non-production troubleshooting.
  • Build and maintain automation for deployments, infrastructure provisioning, and operational processes.
  • Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines for Azure and OpenShift environments.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code templates and reusable automation patterns.
  • Automate container build and deployment workflows.
  • Troubleshoot automation and platform issues and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Document standards and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
  • BS in relevant discipline plus minimum 3 years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Candidate must reside in the Albuquerque area as some onsite work is required.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes automation.
  • Proficiency in Bash or Python scripting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills working in a remote setting
  • Linux system administration
  • Docker container management
  • Scripting: Python, shell (bash),
  • Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or comparable platforms.
  • YAML development
  • SCM: Git (preferred), but other
  • Agile, Kanban, or some other software development management process.
  • Database technologies (any): MySQL, Postgres, MSSQL, Oracle
  • Slack, Mattermost, Teams, or some other chat-based communication platform.

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, or deployment automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or equivalent.
  • Experience with container security tooling.
  • Understanding of GitOps workflows.
  • Background in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
  • Preferred certifications include Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
