We're determined to make a difference and are proud to be an insurance company that goes well beyond coverages and policies. Working here means having every opportunity to achieve your goals - and to help others accomplish theirs, too. Join our team as we help shape the future.

The Employee Benefits IT organization is seeking a DevOps Software Engineer to join our team and help drive the evolution of our cloud-native platforms, automation capabilities, and software delivery pipelines. This role will play a critical part in accelerating application delivery, improving operational excellence, and enabling engineering teams through modern DevOps practices.

You will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise in AWS Cloud, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD automation, containerization, and observability tools while working across the entire software delivery lifecycle. We embrace Agile ways of working and are passionate about building secure, scalable, resilient, and well-architected solutions that deliver business value. We are looking for engineers who are curious, adaptable, and passionate about continuous learning. As AI continues to transform software engineering and operations, we encourage our team members to responsibly explore and leverage AI-powered tools and emerging technologies that enhance productivity, improve quality, accelerate delivery, and create better outcomes for our customers and business partners.

Responsibilities

The team is seeking a motivated, results-oriented individual with strong DevOps engineering and cloud platform experience. The ideal candidate will partner with Software Engineers, Architects, Product Owners, and Infrastructure teams to build and maintain cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, monitoring capabilities, and engineering productivity solutions. This individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting DevOps capabilities across development, testing, and production environments while ensuring security, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, implement, and support CI/CD pipelines to enable automated and reliable software delivery.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, environment configuration, and operational processes.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions using tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, CloudWatch, or similar technologies.
  • Support containerized application deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS.
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve deployment automation, release processes, and operational readiness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment, application, and performance issues across multiple environments.
  • Partner with security teams to implement DevSecOps practices including vulnerability management, secrets management, and compliance automation.
  • Contribute to cloud architecture reviews and adoption of AWS Well-Architected Framework best practices.
  • Mentor and coach engineers on DevOps practices, cloud technologies, and automation capabilities.
  • Act as a technical resource and subject matter expert for colleagues with less experience.
  • Explore and leverage AI-assisted engineering tools and emerging technologies to improve developer productivity, operational efficiency, software quality, and delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and a continuous learning mindset by evaluating, experimenting with, and adopting innovative technologies, automation approaches, and AI-enabled capabilities where appropriate.
  • Contribute ideas and best practices for incorporating AI, automation, and intelligent tooling into the software development and DevOps lifecycle.

What's In It For You

  • Opportunity to work with modern cloud-native platforms and enterprise-scale AWS environments.
  • Exposure to emerging cloud, automation, containerization, and platform engineering technologies.
  • Ability to influence enterprise DevOps practices and engineering excellence initiatives.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced Agile environment delivering strategic business capabilities.
  • Opportunity to enhance leadership, architecture, automation, and operational excellence skills.
  • Collaborative culture that promotes continuous learning, innovation, and career growth.
  • Opportunity to drive measurable improvements in deployment velocity, reliability, security, and developer experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field plus three (3) years of post-baccalaureate experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps engineering, or a related role.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure and services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Route53, etc.).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.

  • Experience working within Agile and SAFe delivery frameworks.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, experiment with, and adopt emerging technologies, including AI-powered development, automation, and operational tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to evaluate new technologies to drive engineering efficiency and business value.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Developer, SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect, or DevOps Engineer certification.
