Job description

Operations Manager (Fluid Bed & Blending) Opportunity at Glanbia!

The Operations Manager (Fluid Bed & Blending) will assist the Site Director in managing, supervising and directing all aspects of production operations for designated lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a behavior-based safety culture with a goal of creating a zero-risk workplace
  • Maintain high quality standards and zero error tolerance by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities and promoting continuous improvement to drive a zero-loss environment
  • Duties and responsibilities will include spending 90% of work time on the floor in this very hands-on managerial position.
  • Assists in vigorously improving quality using root-cause analysis of non-conformity issues and successful implementation of corrective action plans, including machine and processing operation training, in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with all departments in a positive manner to achieve the company's goals considering efficiency and productivity goals.
  • Reports and statuses departmental goals and objectives in keeping with the company's long and short-term plans.
  • Assists in helping meet departmental efficiency and quality goals.
  • Ensures compliance and enforcement of all policies and procedures including attendance, safety, cGMPs, SOPs, etc.
  • Participate in daily production schedule meetings, to ensure customer delivery requirements are met.
  • Responsible for following the daily production schedule and immediately communicating to management any problems.
  • Promotes growth and development of supervisors, assistant supervisors, and machine operators through rigorous day-to-day hands-on, machine operation training program.
  • Works with supervisors to ensure customer's requirements are met regarding on time manufacturing, quality and cost.
  • Implements standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Performs all necessary supervisory duties of staff including but not limited to interviewing; hiring and terminating; training; administering performance reviews; disciplinary actions; etc.
  • Responsible for successfully implementing new policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that manufacturing goals and project deadlines are met while maintaining compliance with cGMPs, FDA, and any other regulations.
  • Take part by providing information for customers and government agency audits and inspections.
  • Assists in revising, reviewing and maintaining production operations SOPs.
  • Develops, trains, and implements an effective supervisory team.
  • Support and collaborate with other departments to expedite and or resolve problems to ensure customer product delivery dates are met.
  • Provides input in the development of process specifications, batch records and other quality related manufacturing documents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in physical sciences, mathematics, chemical, mechanical or process engineering; or a minimum of seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of hands-on people management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred experience in food, supplement, pharmaceutical, high-speed packaging or related industry that is regulated by the FDA.
