We are seeking a motivated Lab Supervisor to lead daily workflow and analytical testing operations at our laboratory in Artesia, NM.
This is an exciting opportunity for a current laboratory supervisor or experienced team lead with a strong analytical background and a collaborative, hands-on leadership style. The successful candidate will guide laboratory personnel, coordinate testing priorities, support employee development, and resolve technical and operational challenges. This role will also help advance laboratory quality, safety, compliance, turnaround times, and operational efficiency within a fast-paced, accredited testing environment.
What You'll Do

  • Provide daily leadership, supervision, and operational support to laboratory personnel
  • Assign, prioritize, and monitor petroleum and hydrocarbon testing workflows to support accurate, reliable, and timely results
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, training, coaching, and employee performance management
  • Oversee laboratory operations, instrumentation readiness, calibrations, preventive maintenance, and resource allocation
  • Ensure testing activities comply with approved analytical methods, quality systems, SOPs, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Review analytical data, laboratory records, and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Troubleshoot issues involving laboratory instrumentation, analytical methods, sample workflows, and operational processes
  • Monitor laboratory capacity, inventory, turnaround times, and operational performance metrics
  • Support audits, investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promote compliance with laboratory safety policies, PPE requirements, and environmental health and safety procedures
  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership and cross-functional teams to support customer needs and operational priorities
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible analytical laboratory experience within regulated environments
  • 2+ years of experience leading laboratory personnel, managing workloads, and supporting employee development
  • Advanced working knowledge of analytical instrumentation, test methods, sample workflows, data review, quality systems and practices, regulatory requirements, SOPs, and lab safety protocols
  • Strong ability to identify workflow or quality issues, support corrective actions, and promote continuous improvement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and LIMS
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Work Schedule & Travel
  • Full-time, onsite position
  • Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call coverage based on operational and customer needs
  • Occasional travel may be required for training, audits, meetings, or operational support activities
