Position Summary
TheUniversity of New Mexico (UNM) Center for High Technology Materials (CHTM)offers and exciting opportunity for a lab aide to assist itsnano-fabrication facility manager. The CHTM nanofabrication facility comprises afour-bay cleanroom, three bays of which are Class 1000 and one bay of which isClass 100 in which metal evaporators, Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) etchers,photolithographic equipment, and other equipment are situated. Various materials characterization equipment as well as an InterferometricLithography (IL) system are located elsewhere in the facility. Allnano-fabrication and materials characterization equipment comprise the CHTMuser facility at UNM that supports our micro/nano device and material researchactivities.
This job entails the following tasks:
  • Stock, inventory and maintain supplies for the Cleanroom Store.
  • Dispensing items and/or products to all UNM NanoFab users and CHTM labs.
  • To work inside UNM NanoFab's cleanroom, an individual must be over 18years of age, must have completed all required CHTM and Cleanroom Safety quizzes and be trained to work inside the cleanroom by UNM Nanofab staff. Tasks inside the cleanroom include restocking chemicals inside the cleanroom. This task is carried out every day.
  • Distribute, restock, purchase and maintain inventory of chemicals used at the UNM NanoFab. This requires training in chemical handling.
  • Remove and send-out Lab Apparel/PPE/Bunny suits to special laundry service every week.
  • Maintain laundry service and Lab-Apparel inventory.
  • Restock and maintain cleanroom gowning area and service center labs.
  • Maintain the inventory of all cleanroom storage areas. This includes lab supplies, chemicals and lab apparel.
  • Assist in chemical inventory of CHTM labs

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at date of hire.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of junior or senior year of high school; no previous experience required.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months of experience working in a cleanroom.
