Here's how a Subcontracts Coordinator for PCL Industrial Management Inc. within Edmonton Industrial Management contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Interprets and provides guidance of prime contract documents to mitigate risk and maximize opportunity.
  • Liaises with Finance and Administration to identify and ensures compliance with project specific contract requirements.
  • Performs site visits to ensure adherence to subcontract procedure.
  • Develops and maintains subcontractor relationships while recognizing customer and business needs.
  • Liaises with ISN to resolve queries in coordination with the NAHQ ISN prequalification coordinator.
  • Develops instructions to bidders and sets up RFPs.
  • Assists the project team to prequalify subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Participates in pre-bid meetings and bid clarification meetings.
  • Develops bid tabs and recommendation for award.
  • Coordinates qualifications and facilitates subcontract negotiations.
  • Participates in the transfer of the executed subcontract to the jobsite team, including participation in the kickoff meeting.
  • Provides subcontract oversight, including planning, mobilization support, issue resolution, monitoring performance of the work, reporting, and ensuring contractual compliance.
  • Assists the project team to process subcontract revisions, extensions and close-out of subcontracts.
  • Assists in the negotiation of claims or disputes occurring during subcontract performance, if necessary.
  • Liaises with site management for project status updates.
  • Liaise with appropriate district personnel (i.e. safety, quality, F&A) regarding setup of subcontracts and PCL system/application related issues.
  • Coordinates user access and training for project personnel.
  • Assists with the improvement of subcontract management procedures.
  • Assists with the creation, maintenance and updates to the preferred subcontractor and supplier list.
  • Gathers and reviews subcontractor and supplier feedback.
  • Supports the completion and close out of subcontracts when scope is complete.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in contracts and procurement, with at least one year experience working on an industrial construction site.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration, business management, construction or a related discipline or equivalent.
  • Required knowledge of contract law, procurement and construction techniques with strong working knowledge of technical aspects.
  • Required knowledge of general construction methods and estimates, quality requirements, bonding and insurance.
  • Preference towards candidates familiar with ISNet, Smartbid, and other PCL systems/applications.
  • Required knowledge of industrial construction methods and materials, risk analysis, good analytical skills, and organizational skills.
  • Must have experience in any of the following construction arenas: Heavy Industrial, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refineries or Power Generation.
  • Excellent written, computer, strong leadership, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
