Job description

I. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Research Associate III / Senior Research Associate, Process Development role provides the incumbent an opportunity to strategically contribute to the process development for products and identify new market opportunities / potential products.
Process Development Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all safety and company policies to create a safe environment.
  • Performs synthetic chemistry experiments to develop processes for new products.
  • Reviews, troubleshoots, and resolves issues observed during Process Development and Manufacturing to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Interprets analytical results to determine next steps in manufacturing.
  • Makes recommendations for process improvements by using professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve a variety of problems.
  • Demonstrates technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and ability to think independently.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Acts under general guidance to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Understands the rationale and broader business impact of assigned activities and analyzes complex technical and market data to draw actionable conclusions.
    Interfaces with various departments, customers and partners.
  • Trains others how to execute complex tasks.
  • Writes and contributes to technical and business documents containing multiple sources of information organized in a clear and logical manner with minimal revision required.
    Effectively prioritizes multiple tasks when time restraints are present.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

Technical Market Intelligence Responsibilities:
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities, converting data into actionable insights.
  • Identify new market opportunities and customer segments.
  • Tracks and informs our target segments and the overall competitive environment.
  • Responsible for analyzing, segmenting and routinely tracking the target market(s) to identify business opportunities.
  • Define the scope of the catalog product offering to maximize identified market opportunities.
  • Identifies opportunities in our target segments using a range of databases to provide business development with qualified, out-bound leads.
  • Supports the marketing communications plan with the generation of technical marketing collateral.

II. Minimum Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or other related program is required. Master's degree is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of cumulative relevant experience is required, including 4-6 years of chemical process development experience and 1-3 years of market analysis experience, such as monitoring external patents, publications, regulatory updates, or product management within the pharmaceutical, activated polymer, or life science materials industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze complex technical and market data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Experience mentoring, training, or providing technical guidance to others preferred.
  • Experience in activated polymers used for therapeutics, medical devices and/or diagnostics required.
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment.
  • Ability to analyze market trends, conduct research, and interpret data.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in data mining, management and analytics.
  • Ability to optimize work processes to work efficiently and respond to business demands.
  • Self-motivated and action-oriented to drive activities for the business.
  • Values collaboration with leadership, internal teams, and other key stakeholders. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision at times.
  • Perform reactions and interpret analytical data.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint are required. Experience with Market Intelligence and Research tools highly preferred.

III. Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check for employment consideration.
  • Performance of tasks essential to the job function may require the employee to work directly with, handle, or otherwise come into contact with chemicals or pharmaceutical agents.
  • Employees may be required to enroll in a medical surveillance program based on the potential exposure to certain health hazards encountered as a result of their job function.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • May be required to perform tasks essential to the job function in areas that require the use of hearing protection devices.
