VOA Upstate New York's Children's Center services provides educational programs focused on early childhood development and school readiness for children 6 weeks through 12 years old. The center serves more than 500 children and families on an annual basis and provides additional support services such as a full-time Registered Nurse, family development services, on-going parent training, full-day care, and disability supports for children with special needs.

Classroom Aide

JOB SUMMARY

As a Classroom Aide at VOA, you would help to provide for all aspects of care and education in a School Age classroom. Working as a team, Classroom Aides together with Lead and Assistant teachers ensure we are able to meet each child’s individual needs.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES

  • Assists in providing active, fully engaged supervision of the children at all times.
  • Provide coverage in any classroom as needed to maintain ratios.
  • Help to meet each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs.
  • Assist in maintaining classroom cleanliness and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including state child care licensing regulations, accreditation standards and School age standards.
  • Organize and Implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities under the direction of the classroom teacher, reinforcing educational goals, attending to the individual needs of the children.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, required
  • Minimum of one year of classroom experience with the applicable age range, required
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Associate (CDA), preferred
  • Ability to bass OCFS Complete Background Check including SEL, SCR, and DCJS fingerprinting
  • Knowledge of NYS OCFS regulations strongly desired
