Job description

Summary of Position

The Vice President, Research & Development provides strategic and operational leadership across McCrometer’s engineering and product development functions, including Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Firmware, and Sustaining Engineering. This role is accountable for driving innovation, accelerating new product development, and continuously improving existing products to meet evolving customer needs and business objectives. The VP, R&D leads the engineering organization and is responsible for building a robust innovation pipeline, aligning product roadmaps to strategy, and fostering a high-performance culture grounded in technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Provide leadership across all engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Firmware, and Sustaining Engineering.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year product and technology roadmap aligned to strategic growth priorities.
  • Lead end-to-end product development including ideation, design, development, validation, and commercialization.
  • Oversee sustaining engineering to ensure product reliability, quality, and lifecycle optimization.
  • Establish and manage an effective innovation and portfolio management process.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Product Management, and Operations to ensure successful product launches.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Build external partnerships to accelerate innovation and capability building.
  • Support M&A activities including technical due diligence and integration.
  • Establish KPIs across innovation, development timelines, quality, and cost performance.
  • Build and develop a high-performing engineering organization through talent development and succession planning.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive workplace environment.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Engage with industry partners, customers, and stakeholders to strengthen McCrometer’s innovation position.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Experience: Minimum 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, research & Development or product innovation.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline required; advanced degree preferred.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $190,000 - $220,000 USD per year.
