The Associate Director, Human Resources' main responsibility is to provide support to Curia's Rensselaer, NY manufacturing site with a focus on attracting, motivating, training and retaining the workforce. The Associate Director is responsible for working with the GM/Site Head, site leadership team, as well as manufacturing, quality and functional support staff, to facilitate human resources activities related to employee relations and engagement, labor relations, benefits administration, recruitment, onboarding, staffing, professional development, performance management and other employee-orientated practices and programs. The Associate Director, Human Resources is responsible for the implementation of applicable corporate policies, as well as the development of site-specific processes that support the achievement of the organization's business goals. This position works closely with the VP, Human Resources, as well as other members of the corporate and global HR organization.

Supervisory responsibilities

The Human Resources Specialist and the Training Program Manager report to the Associate Director, Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes safety, quality and productivity standards; goal attainment and performance management

  • Act as a Business Partner to the GM/Site Head, implementing site-specific, employee-related plans and ensuring the consistent application of policies, procedures and where applicable, collective bargaining agreements

  • As the primary employee relations contact and consultant to Site Leadership Team and Rensselaer employees, coach supervisors, managers and employees in matters related to all facets of employe engagement, policies and procedures

  • Responsible for interpreting CBA language and recommending approaches to addressing grievances 

  • Responsible for negotiating labor agreements

  • Oversee the site-wide training program; maintain records and revise training standards as business needs require

  • As a member of the Site Leadership Team, participate in and promote all site and corporate initiatives

  • Coach and mentor direct reports including establishing goals, managing performance, and assisting with professional development

  • Responsible for the facilitation of site-specific investigations, documenting findings and recommending outcome to the VP, Human Resources and the Curia Legal Department

  • Assist site leadership and department managers with planning and projecting current and future staffing needs

  • In collaboration with the VP, Human Resources facilitate plans for employee development. Assist in writing and implementing development plans for identified individuals

  • Deliver compliance presentations, including but not limited to Leadership Interview Skills Training, Performance Management, Harassment and Discrimination.

  • Provide practical, consistent, and proactive support, direction, coaching, and advice to other managers on HR procedure, policy, best practice, employment rewards, benefits, and legislation to facilitate in achieving the objectives and targets of an organization

  • Proactively raise issues with managers, identifying practical solutions and recommending appropriate action plans

  • Participate in new employee orientation process for site-based employees

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and labor law related to employment

  • Conduct all other duties as assigned, including but not limited to replying to requests for benefit plan interpretation, general employee inquiries, responding to policy-related questions and liaising with functional teams (payroll, finance, etc.)

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Human Resources in a high-energy environment

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a unionized industrial or manufacturing environment 

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in labor relations, with demonstrated experience managing grievance/arbitration processes and negotiating collective bargaining agreements

  • Experience in applying HR law, policy, and/or practice 

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Human Resources

  • Pharmaceutical experience

Pay Range: $135,000-$168,000
