The DevelopmentAssistant works alongside fundraisers, university colleagues, and externalconstituents to develop, support, and maintain programs and activities thathelp secure philanthropic support for the University. Primary responsibilitiesinclude:
- Preparing materials for fundraiser prospect visits
- Making travel arrangements
- Completing transmittal forms for pledges and gifts received
- Filing visit reports in Blackbaud
- Drafting gift acknowledgments
- Requesting research and pulling additional donor or prospect information from various systems.
The DevelopmentAssistant also supports work related to external constituents' visits tocampus, meetings, and special events, often interfacing with the Programs andEvents team to maximize the effectiveness of events within budgetaryguidelines. Given the extensive independent contact with external constituents,including alumni and parent volunteers, donors, and university officials, thisposition requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, attention todetail and accuracy, excellent oral and written communication skills, andcomplete discretion in handling and storing confidential data.
The
Corporate& Foundation Relations unit focuses on supporting academic units acrossthe university by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewardingfoundations and corporations to secure funding of $50,000-$1,000,000+. In thisrole, you will provide support for 2-3 CFR Officers. Additionalresponsibilities include assisting with the preparation of proposals andreports, collaborating with the Office for Sponsored Programs, and researchingcorporate and foundation funders.

Full-TimeEquivalent Hiring Range: $47,880 to $59,850 ($26.30 to $32.90 hourly)
RequirementsThis positionrequires a minimum of two years of increasingly responsible administrativeexperience in a professional setting; strong interpersonal and organizationalskills with attention to detail and accuracy; excellent oral and writtencommunications skills including effective phone communication skills; accuratetyping skills; a working knowledge of Windows PC, including Microsoft Office,and familiarity with Customer Relationship Management databases; exceptionalproofreading; strong attention to detail; a commitment to accuracy; and veryadept at handling multiple tasks and working well within deadlines.
Also requires goodjudgment, discretion in handling confidential materials, the ability to workindependently without close supervision, and flexibility to work beyond theregular workday hours when necessary. Candidates must possess solid knowledgeof grammar and punctuation.
Requires a highschool diploma, bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates should be highlymotivated to work in a fast-paced environment that requires some evening andnight work.
Must be a teamplayer who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing highereducation and has an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goalsand values of Boston College. A desire to build a career in advancement is aplus.
