At Franciscan, our Medical Assistants are critical for supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. This role assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information in electronic medical record system, and functions as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Sign-On Bonus Available (Ask your Talent Acquisition Advisor about eligibility.)

  • Schedule is 40 hours per week with one late evening shift

  • Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM

  • Provide direct patient care in an outpatient setting, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs and medical histories, documenting in the electronic medical record, medication reconciliation, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and administering vaccines, injections, and medications under the supervision of an RN or Provider

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and internal and external customers via phone, electronic messaging, and in person

  • Coordinate patient care activities, including prior authorizations, referrals, sample medications, prescriptions, and refill requests as directed

  • Utilize strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills to support providers and ensure continuity of care

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required High School Diploma/GED

  • Required Program Medical Assisting

  • In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience-Required

  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association- within 90 days of hire

  • For an MA, you must have one of the following certifications within 6 months of hire: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Performance Specialists (NPS)
