We develop LLVM compilation suite for Qualcomm’s Hexagon DSP delivering rich performance for machine learning, wireless communication, audio, and image processing applications on the Android platform. We are looking for compiler engineers who will help us build these software platforms. In this role, you will collaborate with Qualcomm hardware and software engineers to enable efficient usage of Qualcomm’s silicon. You will work with a team of compiler engineers with rich experience and knowledge. We work on the entire compilation stack including programming languages and intermediate representations, code generation, improving performance, and programmer usability.SummaryDevelop LLVM- and MLIR-based compiler components for Qualcomm’s Hexagon DSPImprove ML compiler lowering and optimization pipelines for efficient execution on Qualcomm hardwareUse profiling and benchmark data to drive performance and code size improvementsDebug correctness and code generation issues across MLIR, LLVM IR, assembly, and generated codeAnalyze software requirements, determine the feasibility of design within the given constraints, consult with architecture and HW engineers, and come up with software solutions best suited for Qualcomm's SOCsMinimum SkillsHands-on experience with LLVM, MLIR, GCC, or another production compiler frameworkStrong programming skills in modern C/C++ and experience working in large software codebases5 years or more of compiler engineering experience in industry or academia.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.Preferred SkillsProfessional experience developing production-quality compiler infrastructure using LLVM and/or MLIRStrong knowledge of compiler fundamentals, including intermediate representations, compiler analyses, optimization passes, code generation, and debuggingExperience analyzing compiler correctness, generated code quality, performance, or code size using benchmarks, tests, and debugging toolsExperience with machine learning compiler stacks, ML framework integration, graph-level optimizations, or lowering from frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or ONNX.Knowledge of instruction sets and computer architecture, including SIMD/vector architectures, pipeline behavior, hazards, cache hierarchy, memory organization, and accelerator constraints.Working knowledge of system software tools such as assemblers, linkers, debuggers, profilers, and performance-analysis tools.Strong communication skills and interpersonal skillsDeep knowledge of software engineeringMaster’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.ORMaster's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.ORPhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.• 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with compiler or tools.Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
