What you'll be responsible for

As a Principal Technical Writer on the Arc team, you will own the strategy and execution of developer-facing documentation that enables builders, developers, and partners to effectively use Circle's products and services. You will work closely with product, engineering, and Developer Relations to create clear, engaging, and technically accurate content that enhances the developer experience and drives adoption of our products. This role requires a deep understanding of developer experience, strong editorial judgment, and the ability to translate technical concepts into accessible and impactful documentation.

What you'll work on
  • Create and maintain high-quality developer documentation, including API references, integration guides, and tutorials

  • Design and improve documentation architecture to optimize usability and developer experience

  • Partner with product managers and engineers to understand features and translate them into clear documentation

  • Develop content strategies that support product launches and ongoing feature adoption

  • Analyze developer feedback and usage data to continuously improve documentation effectiveness

  • Establish and scale documentation standards, processes, and best practices across cross-functional teams

  • Review and collaborate with other technical writers to ensure consistency, quality, and clarity across all technical content

What you'll bring to Circle

Core Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience creating technical documentation for developer audiences

  • Proven experience writing API documentation, integration guides, and system-level content

  • Strong understanding of software development concepts, including REST APIs and developer workflows

  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, product, and developer relations teams

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to independently lead complex documentation initiatives from concept to delivery

  • Familiarity with a docs-as-code process and tools such as Git, GitHub, and modern documentation platforms

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in blockchain, crypto, or fintech ecosystems

  • Coding ability in TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python

Base Pay Range: $185,000-$237,500
