Job Description
Are you a strategic marketing leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment? Timmons Group is seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to join our Richmond, Virginia headquarters office. In this high-impact role, you'll lead and actively manage pursuits across multiple offices and market sectors-guiding capture planning, proposal development, and interview preparation from opportunity to award. You'll also play a key role in shaping pursuit strategy and driving growth across our footprint.
You'll help teams win work, strengthen client relationships, and expand our presence in key markets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead the full proposal lifecycle-from tracking opportunities and leading go/no-go discussions to crafting winning strategies, content, and presentations.
  • Personally manage high-profile, strategic, or complex proposals.
  • Partner with technical and business development teams to develop pursuit strategies, capture plans, and client-focused messaging.
  • Develop and implement annual market sector marketing plans aligned with firmwide goals and growth strategies.
  • Facilitate pursuit and marketing strategy meetings, ensuring strong communication across offices and teams.
  • Oversee pipeline tracking, capture planning, and pursuit performance reporting.
  • Mentor and manage pursuit/marketing staff, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with the corporate marketing and communications team and business development leadership to align and elevate marketing initiatives and campaigns.
  • Continuously improve pursuit and marketing processes, tools, and strategies to enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency.

Skills/Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing pursuits.
  • AEC marketing experience required, engineering specific experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of the full marketing and pursuit lifecycle, from capture to closeout.
  • Proven success managing complex proposals and pursuit teams under tight deadlines.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic marketing plans by geography or market sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Deltek (with the ability to train others).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and team members with minimal oversight.
  • Collaborative leadership style and strong relationship-building skills with technical, marketing, and business development teams.
  • Active involvement in the AEC/SMPS community; CPSM a plus.
