The Mechanical Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and products. The Mechanical Engineering Manager provides technical leadership with people management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards while fostering a high-performing engineering team.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers with performance management, coaching, and career development
  • Oversee the design, analysis, and validation of mechanical components and systems
  • Manage engineering projects from concept through production, to ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and design processes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and electrical teams
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product design, cost reduction, and process efficiency
  • Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure successful completion
  • Manage resource planning, project prioritization, and workload distribution across the team
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for product or production issues
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives while providing cost reduction leadership (i.e. interact with manufacturing, vendors, marketing, and engineering teams to reduce costs)
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 15+ years of engineering experience, with a strong background in mechanical design and development
  • 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience
  • Possess first-rate knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor (or SolidWorks), and Vault
  • Ability to lead technical teams and manage complex engineering projects
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and engineering analysis methods (e.g., FEA, GD&T)
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or product development environment
  • Possess a good understanding of manufacturing processes with emphasis on process equipment including a working knowledge of piping, structural steel, welding, gears, motors, machinery, and fabricating processes
  • Understanding of materials, mechanics, fluid & thermal dynamics with experience utilizing FEA and CFD tools
  • Familiar with a wide variety of fabrication, machining, and manufacturing methods
  • Experience with streamlining engineering processes and implementing product and process improvements
  • Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance analysis
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Management
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
  • Knowledge of ASME code for pressure vessels
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
  • Exposure to regulated industries (if applicable)
