Job description

Job Description

ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED

Power scalable data solutions that drive real-world impact! In this role, you will sit at the crossroads of Big Data management, algorithmic development, and visual analytics. You won't just analyze isolated datasets—you’ll manage and scale Big Data platforms, write performant code in core programming languages, and engineer prototype algorithms from the ground up. If you thrive on continuously refining models, optimizing large-scale data platforms, and transforming raw, massive datasets into clear, interactive visual dashboards, you’ll fit right in with Team Nyla.

The annual base salary range for this role is $152,000-$180,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

, Required Skills
  • Big Data Platform Engineering: Direct hands-on experience managing, querying, and optimizing distributed Big Data frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, or AWS EMR).

  • Programming Proficiency: Strong software engineering background using core programming languages (such as Python, Java, Scala, or C++) for algorithmic creation and data processing.

  • Algorithm Development Refinement: Proven track record of developing, tuning, and refining mathematical or statistical algorithms for large-scale data analysis.

  • Data Visualization: Demonstrated ability to construct clear, dynamic visualizations, charts, and analytics dashboards using custom libraries or BI tools.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 7+ years of professional experience in data science, Big Data engineering, or software development OR Master’s Degree in a related field, PLUS 5+ years of relevant professional experience OR High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 11+ years of specialized technical experience in lieu of a degree.

, Desired Skills

Stream Batch Processing: Experience managing real-time data streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, Flink) within a Big Data ecosystem.

Advanced Machine Learning / AI: Familiarity with modern ML/DL libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn) and Large Language Models (LLMs).

Database Query Optimization: Hands-on experience tuning NoSQL (e.g., Accumulo, Cassandra) and relational database queries for high-speed indexing and retrieval.

DevOps Engineering Practices: Practical experience using version control (Git), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
