This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio, Des Moines, Iowa, or Scottsdale, Arizona office 2 days (Wednesday & Thursday) per week.

DOTS (Data Operations Technology Solutions) is looking for a Specialist Quality Engineer to lead Quality assurance and control activities in developing a modern data platform. In this role you will be part of a complex mega data transformation program that is developing a state-of-the-art modern data platform with cutting edge technologies like Databricks, Snowflake, Python, DataOps, AtScale and Streamsets, etc. You will be part of highly skilled, highly collaborative and friendly team that helps you grow professionally and personally.

Required skills:

  • Must have expertise in advanced SQL queries

As a Quality Engineer you will plan and conduct a wide range of software quality tests and analyzes to ensure all application products and services meet organizational standards aligned to their quality management approach, as well as, end-user requirements. All Quality Engineers perform quality planning, quality design and execution.
You will focus on a blend of skills enabling efficient execution of risk-based testing, test automation, performance testing, test data management, test environment management, continuous integration and continuous deployment all improving speed to delivery for our business partners.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carries out procedures to ensure all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements.

  • Analyzes and reviews moderate requirements, user stories and technical work products to create the automation needed.

  • Plans for the proper mix of manual, automated, and exploratory testing methods.

  • Uses the appropriate quality engineering tools to define test data management, test automation, security/vulnerability, performance, and regression testing needs.

  • Validates test results, records and researches defects.

  • Coordinates test runs and test environment calendars for all impacted applications.

  • Traces requirements to tests and test results.

  • Prioritizes, defines, and manages defect reporting and resolution.

  • Manages defects including identifying, tracking, and providing critical thinking for resolution.

  • Identifies means to be more effective and efficient in testing, without compromising quality.

  • Plans for continuous integration to enable a continuous deployment pipeline.

  • Executes moderate release testing and has a plan for back-out testing.

  • Validates that release components are installed in the appropriate testing environment.

  • Aligns with the Nationwide automated testing reference architecture.

  • Complies with release management process governance and timelines throughout the release.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Technology Manager or Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is preferred.

License/Certification/Designation:Technology certifications including TOSCA Automated Specialist 1 (AS1), TOSCA Automated Specialist 2 (AS2), or other related designations are preferred.

Experience: Four or more years of experience with using test optimization and automation processed and tools. Demonstrated experience in testing for agile teams including planning, test plan creation, maintenance and execution. Good understanding of test automation and optimization throughout a stack and the tools to support.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong analytical and communication skills, knowledge of planning. Ability to problem solve and set priorities needed. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership or technical skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and HR Business Partner.
