Work Arrangement: This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires in-office presence in Columbus, Ohio two days per week.

Location Requirement: Candidates must be based within a commutable distance to Columbus, Ohio.

Work Authorization: This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a Test Automation Developer (TAD) with a solid understanding of Personal Lines insurance products and workflows, particularly in product pricing functionality. Experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter is highly desirable. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and possesses strong technical skills in test automation and quality assurance within Agile/Scrum environments. You will play a key role in ensuring product quality through the design, development, and execution of automated and manual testing solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

This role is responsible for designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated and manual test cases aligned with Agile and Scrum practices. You will collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and fellow testers to understand requirements, define test scenarios, and validate functionality based on user stories and acceptance criteria.

You will perform functional, integration, regression, backend data validation, and performance testing activities to ensure product quality and stability. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining automated test scripts, analyzing test results, documenting defects, and supporting defect resolution efforts through collaboration with development teams.

The role requires active participation in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives. You will contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes, automation coverage, and overall quality practices. Effective communication and collaboration across teams and time zones are essential.

Familiarity with test automation frameworks, Agile methodologies, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and CI/CD practices is highly desirable.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
