Journeyman Electrician - O&M North Slope Construction JOB SUMMARY

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing the full range of journey-level electrical duties including the installation and maintenance of industrial electrical systems. This position works with high and low voltage systems and performs all work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES

      Review conduit drawings, schematics, and electrical drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.

      Perform maintenance and repairs on industrial generators, gas turbine auxiliary systems, motors, switchgear, transformers, protective relays, fire / gas detection systems, fire suppression systems, Battery Chargers, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Variable Speed Drives, Heat trace systems, Emergency lighting, HVAC, Overhead power line switching, and any other facility related electrical equipment.

      Perform maintenance and calibration on General Monitors, SE Electronics Gas Detectors, Det-Tronics Triple IR Detectors, Pyrotronics, System 3, and AE Solutions Fire Panels.

      Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on 480VAC, 5KV, 15KV Air Circuit Breakers, Power Vac 5KV and 34.5 KV Vacuum Breakers, and Cutler Hammer and Allen Bradley 480V MCC Breakers.

      Perform general facility maintenance functions such as troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance.

      Install, repair, and maintain breaker boxes, electrical outlets, light switches, lighting fixtures, electrical wiring, fuses, and other components of electrical systems.

      Operate electrical equipment and tools such as hydraulic benders, knockout punch sets, cable pullers, volt meters, and testers.

      Inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions using various testing instruments.

      Test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.

      Plan the layout and wiring of new and/or modified installations.

      Estimate cost, time, and materials for electrical projects.

      Maintain accurate inventory of electrical parts, equipment, and related manuals.

      Prepare reports and conduct safety audits as required.

      Maintain an understanding of Classified and Zone Rated Electrical Systems.

      Other duties as assigned.

      Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.

      Support the AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

      A valid (U.S issued) Driver's License is required.

      A High School Diploma or GED is required.

      The ability to work 80.5 - 84 hours a week on a 2x2 or 3x3 rotation is required.

      A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.

      A minimum of five (5) years' experience working as a Journeyman Electrician in a maintenance role in the Oil and Gas industry is required.

      A current State of Alaska Journeyman Electrician License is required or must be willing to obtain.

      A State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness in appropriate classification is required or must be willing to obtain.

      A current NFPA 70E Certification is required.

      Ability to provide your own hand tools, a detailed list of necessary tools will be provided during the interview process.

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

         Five (5) or more years' experience working in a Construction/Industrial setting, the Oil and Gas/Petrochemical industry, and/or the North Slope/Arctic environment is preferred.

         Working knowledge of programmable logic controls, distributed control systems, and programmable control systems is preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet are free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
