Desktop Technician Level 1

Founded in 2007, DTI (Diversified Technology, Inc.) is a successful African American owned IT Consulting/Staffing firm based in Chicago's Loop. We focus on providing delivery, staffing, and supported services such as enterprise integration/implementations including, but not limited to, CRM, EAM, ERP, PMO, and QA. We service clients in SLED (state/local gov't & education), financial services, fortune, public utility, as well as regularly partnering with Big 4 SI partners.

We are seeking a Desktop Technician Level 1 to provide hands-on support for end-user devices and peripherals across our Dallas, Tx or Ohio client locations. This role will be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining desktop and workstation equipment, including telephones (standard & VOIP), desktop/laptop computers (Windows 7, Windows 10, MacOS), and printers. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of handling basic technical support needs with minimal supervision. Must work on our W2.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop, laptop, and workstation hardware and software.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting support for desktops, laptops, printers, and telephones (standard & VOIP).
  • Answer basic end-user questions about equipment features and functionality.
  • Assist with equipment moves, setups, and relocations independently.
  • Escalate more complex technical issues to senior technicians or supervisors as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of hardware/software configurations and support activities.
  • Support project tasks of limited complexity under close management.
Qualifications:
  • 1–2 years of experience in desktop support or IT helpdesk environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows 7, Windows 10, and MacOS systems.
  • Familiarity with telephony systems (standard & VOIP).
  • Understanding of printers, peripherals, and basic network connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on routine tasks while taking direction for more complex issues.
Work Environment:
  • Onsite support required in either Chicago, IL or New York/New Jersey area.
  • Contract role with close management and clear processes.
  • Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative IT environment.

Pay rate: $28.57hr
