Job description

Position Overview
G2IT is seeking a Site Systems Administrator to provide Tier 1-2 technical support and system administration for mission-critical training and operational environments. This role supports a combination of traditional desktops, zero clients, and thin clients, along with Windows Server 2019 systems, ensuring operational readiness and compliance in SIPR and NIPR environments. The administrator will collaborate with end users, IT staff, and mission stakeholders to resolve issues, manage accounts, and maintain infrastructure availability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site Tier 1-2 support for end users, including desktops, zero clients, and thin clients.
  • Administer and maintain Active Directory (user accounts, groups, policies, and permissions).
  • Perform routine system maintenance: patching, updates, break/fix, backup/recovery, and asset management.
  • Manage and monitor Windows Server 2019 systems in support of enterprise operations.
  • Support SIPR and NIPR environments, ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity and IA requirements.
  • Document issues, solutions, and recurring problems to improve knowledge sharing and process efficiency.
  • Monitor performance metrics and escalate Tier 3 issues as necessary.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure systems comply with STIGs, DISA checklists, and other DoD security controls.
  • Support end users with connectivity, login issues, account access, and system troubleshooting.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and security readiness events.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Active or Interim Secret clearance.
  • HS diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of IT experience in system or network administration.
  • Experience supporting Windows 11 desktops and Windows Server 2019.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Group Policy management.
  • Familiarity with SIPR/NIPR networks or other classified environments.

Preferred:
  • Experience supporting thin client/zero client technologies (VMware Horizon, Citrix, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity frameworks, STIG compliance, and vulnerability management.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation or equivalent service management experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills in mission-critical environments.

Work Environment
  • On-site at a secured government installation in Newport, RI.
  • Work performed in SIPR and NIPR environments; remote work is not authorized.
  • Standard duty hours with potential for surge or after-hours support during exercises or mission event

Annual Salary $55,000k-65,000k, depending on experience
