Job description

Position Purpose Summary:           

The purpose of this position is to provide implementation, configuration, support and troubleshooting of all hardware, operating systems, applications and policies related to the networks infrastructure. This position is part of the Information Technology Systems department, Network infrastructure group.  This person will interface with internal and external personnel of varying degrees of technical proficiencies to design, maintain and troubleshoot the PCA network infrastructure.

Dimensions:       

This position configures, deploys, patches, and upgrades switches, routers, firewalls, and other network infrastructure equipment using the appropriate tools and methods. This position performs troubleshooting of all network infrastructure systems. This position designs network infrastructure environments both LAN and WAN. This position performs the physical installation of equipment in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, this position will travel and manage assigned projects as needed by the IT department.

Principal Accountabilities:            

  • As a member of the ITS Department,  ITS – Network Infrastructure  is responsible for knowing and following policies and procedures of the company; for sharing information that would benefit other members of the team; and for finding ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.
  • As a member of the ITS Department and the PCA Team as a whole, ITS – Network Infrastructure is expected to continually strive to strengthen our business philosophy of Meeting needs, exceeding expectations for our customers.  This includes supporting our Commitment to Service which involves doing what is right for our customers, focusing on strategies that add value and support growth, and keeping the promises that we make.
  • ITS - The Network Infrastructure group is responsible for the design, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the PCA network and the various equipment and cabling that it consists of.
  • ITS - The Network Infrastructure group is responsible for providing in person and remote support of other team members, support engineers and end users.
  • ITS - The Network Infrastructure group is responsible for performing the physical installation of all switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points and other various equipment.
  • ITS - The Network Infrastructure group is responsible the safety of themselves and their coworkers while operating in our manufacturing environments and is expected to follow ALL safety precautions prescribed by the manufacturing facility.
  • Decision Making:            
  • This position requires being able to effectively think, troubleshoot and make correct decisions that affect the business and manufacturing networks even when under intense pressure.   

Interactions with Customers and Contacts:  

This position has direct verbal and written contact with plant managers and other corporate managers.  This position has verbal and written contact with all PCA users in response to Remedy tickets and/or a variety of other issues.  This position also includes verbal and/or written communication with all ITS department personnel.  This position may also have written/verbal communication with customers/vendors.

Requirements:   

  • Bachelor of Science, Information Technology Systems.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years previous work experience in related ITS area.
  • Expert understanding of all layers of the OSI model.
  • Understanding of the OSI model
  • Display a working knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 switches.
  • Understanding of VLAN concepts and configuration.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Wireless technologies (Aerohive and Cisco)
  • Familiarity with traffic capture techniques and software.
  • Working knowledge of Ipv4 networking, routing and routing protocols
  • Understanding of DHCP, ARP, VRRP. Telnet and SSH protocols
  • Experience investigating and resolving help desk service requests and use of help desk software.
  • Must be Windows Operating Systems literate.  Desktop and server.
  • Must have some experince with basic linux comands.
  • Must have strong organizational skills to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to and work effectively and independently in a fast paced, multitasking environment.
  • Must be able to evaluate and prioritize tasks for efficiency and completeness.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals throughout the company on departmental procedures, policies, and requests for information.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • Certificates ACSS and CCNA
  • Must be able to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of plant and corporate personnel and with customers and vendors.
  •  Must be able to complete all tasks associated with the installation/removal of networking equipment on a shop floor environment where equipment may be mounted in places only accessible by ladder or narrow spaces.
