Job Overview
The Diesel Mobile Parts Associate is responsible for part identification and research, inventory management, and service support for our Diesel Mobile team. They have solid knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer products and parts, while also strengths in inventory and order management. They provide expert advice through product recommendations to meet customer's needs.
Responsibilities and Duties
Part Identification and Research
  • Continuously develop in-depth knowledge of the heavy-duty vehicle aftermarket, including parts, applications, and technical specifications.

  • Stay updated on new products, product updates, and industry trends to provide accurate and timely information to customers.

  • Efficiently use catalogs, parts manuals, VINs, serial numbers and online systems to identify and recommend requested heavy-duty truck and trailer parts.

  • Collaborate with the service, sales and leasing departments to identify parts for service repair and leasing needs.

  • Assist in-house mobile technicians with, identifying, ordering, and locating parts.

  • Advise mobile technicians on alternative parts or related items and managing core returns/warranties.

Inventory and Logistics
  • Utilize the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to search for parts, check availability, process orders, and maintain accurate customer accounts.

  • Assist in pulling and preparing inventory orders for customer pick-up or delivery, as needed.

  • Assist with stock organization and order processing to maintain an efficient and well-stocked inventory.

  • Provide price quotes, processing invoices, and managing inventory on mobile trucks.

  • Source out-of-stock parts, manage back-orders, receive inventory, and conduct inventory management activities.

Sales and Service
  • Provide expert guidance on the selection of products, explaining their features, benefits, warranty policies and pricing.

  • Offers solutions for both immediate and long-term customer needs.

  • Suggest and recommend related or alternative parts when identical replacements are not available, ensuring customers receive the best solution for their needs.

  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as directed by management to support business operations and ensure a positive customer experience.

Skills and Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience with heavy-duty truck, trailer and/or diesel parts is preferred.

  • Previous experience in customer service, diesel mobile service, or counter sales preferred.

  • Ability to learn product knowledge quickly and apply it to customer interactions.

  • Familiarity with heavy duty truck systems, diesel engines, trailers and common industry brands.

  • Familiarity with point-of-sale or inventory management systems, such as Karmak or similar.

  • Basic computer (email, desktop navigation, etc.) and math skills (calculating discounts, pricing, etc.).

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and customer-focused approach.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. infrequently.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
