Location: Chicago, IL Salary: $60.00 USD Hourly - $80.00 USD Hourly Description: Our client is currently seeking a End User Computing (EUC) Engineer / VDI Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced End User Computing (EUC) Engineer to support and enhance our enterprise desktop and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment. This role will be responsible for application packaging and deployment, operating system management, automation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of the end-user experience across physical and virtual workspaces.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in VMware Horizon, App Volumes/AppStacks, Windows endpoint management, profile management, and scripting/automation, along with a passion for improving operational efficiency and user productivity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Package, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications using VMware AppStacks/App Volumes.
  • Troubleshoot application installation, compatibility, performance, and runtime issues across desktop and virtual environments.
  • Maintain and optimize Windows OS base images, including feature updates, security patching, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions to streamline desktop engineering and operational processes.
  • Support desktop and mobile applications in production environments, ensuring stability and performance.
  • Analyze and resolve system integration, interoperability, and platform compatibility issues.
  • Drive innovation and modernization initiatives that improve the end-user experience and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in project planning, implementation, and deployment activities for EUC initiatives.
  • Provide technical support during scheduled on-call rotations.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, architecture diagrams, and implementation guides.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, application, and support teams to deliver enterprise solutions.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting enterprise Windows desktop environments (Windows 10/11).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience deploying and managing software across enterprise endpoint environments.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience packaging applications for enterprise deployment.
  • Minimum 3 years of scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or VBScript.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Windows profile and user environment management.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience administering VMware Horizon VDI environments.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Desktop Engineering, EUC Engineering, or End User Experience Engineering roles.

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or global VDI environments.
