About the Opportunity

A growing industrial manufacturer is seeking multiple Designers to join its engineering team due to continued business growth and an expanding project backlog. This organization designs and manufactures engineered support systems used in critical infrastructure including power generation, chemical processing, and heavy industrial facilities throughout North America.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with piping or pipe support design experience who wants to join a stable company offering structured training, long-term career growth, and the opportunity to own projects from concept through manufacturing.

Position Summary

As a Designer, you will modify and develop custom product designs based on customer specifications using AutoCAD and MicroStation. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Manufacturing, and customers, you'll ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and delivered on schedule.

The company offers a comprehensive training program where new hires spend the first several months learning products, design standards, and internal processes before gradually taking ownership of customer projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and revise piping support and product designs based on customer requirements.
  • Develop detailed drawings, layouts, and Bills of Materials using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Verify design accuracy prior to release to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Manufacturing, Estimating, and Engineering throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding design modifications and technical requirements.
  • Ensure drawings comply with applicable engineering standards, specifications, and industry codes.
  • Maintain organized electronic design documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide solutions that improve manufacturability and product quality.
  • Support multiple projects while maintaining schedule commitments.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in pipe design or pipe support design.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and MicroStation in a 3D modeling environment.
  • Background designing products for heavy industrial applications such as:
  • Power Generation
  • Chemical Processing
  • Petrochemical
  • Manufacturing
  • Industrial Process Facilities
  • Wastewater
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams.

Preferred

  • Technical degree or Associate's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Mechanical Design, or Engineering Technology.
  • Experience with Navisworks.
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3.
  • Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Knowledge of structural or mechanical drafting principles.
