Job description

*This role requires onsite work in Indianapolis 4-5 days each week.*
LHH is seeking a Design Engineer for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with a manufacturing client located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative product development initiatives while working alongside a collaborative engineering team focused on bringing new products from concept through commercialization. You will play a key role in prototype development, engineering design, testing, quality documentation, and product launch activities while partnering with internal and external stakeholders. The compensation is commensurate to experience and will range between $100,000-110,000 per year and includes comprehensive benefit and insurance plans, generous Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan with a company match.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead product development projects from concept through commercial launch
  • Create engineering designs and detailed CAD models for new products
  • Develop and refine prototypes to evaluate performance and functionality
  • Support research, development, and continuous product improvement initiatives
  • Design verification and validation test plans and protocols
  • Analyze testing data and recommend product enhancements
  • Generate and maintain quality documentation and technical records
  • Create engineering procedures, work instructions, and standardized processes
  • Support design reviews, risk assessments, and cross-functional project meetings
  • Ensure product designs support manufacturability and efficient production processes
  • Prepare engineering documentation for product transfer into production
  • Collaborate with quality, operations, and supply chain teams throughout development
  • Support intellectual property activities, invention disclosures, and patent documentation
  • Coordinate with domestic and international engineering resources on development projects
  • Communicate project status, risks, and technical findings to multi-disciplinary teams
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related discipline is required
  • Minimum of 3+ years of Design Engineering experience within a manufacturing facility is required
  • Must have experience leading products through concept, prototyping, testing, and commercialization
  • Must have experience with CAD design, engineering documentation, and quality systems
  • Ideal candidates will have experience within highly regulated environments
  • Experience collaborating with global engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain teams is preferred
  • Strong project ownership and cross-functional leadership abilities are preferred
  • Excellent written communication and technical documentation skills are preferred
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills are preferred
