Job Title: Lead - Electrical Engineer (Project Manager - Hardware & Electrical Engineering)

Job Description:

The L3Harris Communication Systems segment is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented electrical engineer experienced with Project Management to join an engineering organization that designs and delivers leading edge communications products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for hardware project management and indirect management of other electrical engineers in a matrixed organization supporting new product design and development and legacy redesign efforts for future production support. This individual will be a member of a cross functional development team with hands-on responsibility for leading aspects of design, analysis, integration, and testing.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills coupled with the ability work within a large engineering team are required.

This role requires strong project management, leadership and teamwork skills. The candidate will be expected to lead technology initiatives that may go beyond their personal technical competency, utilizing Subject Matter Experts (Engineers and Scientists) from other specific disciplines as required. The candidate will work collaboratively across the engineering organization to focus on the requirements management, technical baseline creation, review and approval, technical roadmap creation and aspects of system engineering process compliance including, but not limited to, process artifact review and approval and risk management/analysis.

This candidate will be budget responsible: able to develop BOEs and timelines and help manage the development process to meet these budget and timing constraints.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Support hardware project management for new designs and legacy sustainment
  • Manage competing priorities amongst several projects
  • Support hardware research, design, and development of software defined radio systems
  • Make design decisions and assess technical risks based on schedule and budget constraints
  • Familiar with the principles and techniques of electrical engineering
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
  • Perform project integration with other subsystems of a radio, including RF, FPGA, DSP, embedded firmware, etc.
  • Coordinate subsystem and system level verification and validation testing
  • Completion of assignments and delivery of results with general supervision/support
  • Proven and effective communications skills, interpersonal skills and customer focus are a must
  • Participate in product and process e3 cost reduction and product improvement efforts.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required
  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance is required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience in electrical engineering Project Management or Project Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Project Management or Project Engineering, including indirect management of engineering teams

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Design of Circuits including Power, Digital, RF, Communication Systems, and FPGA
  • Experience with circuit analysis and operational concepts
  • Experience with schematic capture tool usage (Mentor vx2.6/DxDesigner preferred)
  • Experience with Printed/Flex circuit board layout software/techniques (PADS preferred)
  • Experience with scripting programming language (LabView or Matlab preferred)
  • Experience with Configuration Management software (Agile preferred)
  • Experience in DFM analysis and implementation for volume manufacturing
  • Experience with DOORS or equivalent requirements management tools
  • Utilize or understand modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct tests, and evaluate results
  • Ability to work autonomously and with others to resolve technical issues
  • Familiarity with the INCOSE V product development model
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or another project management tool
  • Familiarity with common test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, and Signal Analyzers

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $110,500 - $205,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
