Dr. Delphinium, Dallas' premier florist, is seeking a creative and people-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced production environment in which you will play a critical role in helping us maintain our reputation as a leader in the floral/service industry. The Design Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining a creative, high-performing design team while overseeing daily floral production operations. This role provides leadership, training, quality oversight, and process improvement initiatives to ensure exceptional product quality, operational efficiency, and outstanding customer experiences. The Design Manager acts as a role model who inspires accountability, collaboration, and elevated company standards across the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advocate for team members/team
  • Ensure all Line Designers have the knowledge, tools, and materials needed to complete floral assignments successfully
  • Partner closely with the Creative Director to train and educate designers on menu items and design standards
  • Communicate with the Creative Director and Flower Buyer regarding issues with menu items or product availability
  • Monitor daily production with the goal of improving efficiency and minimizing overtime
  • Implement, review, and improve all design policies, procedures, and service standards
  • Create work schedules for Line Designers and Design Assistants
  • Collaborate with other department leaders concerning product or service issues
  • Provide coaching and feedback, including formal corrective action when necessary
  • Conduct annual performance reviews
  • Maintain accurate standing account spreadsheets and distribute standings with Creative Director input
  • Develop processes and procedures to reduce COGS, including spot audits, waste reduction, and waste tracking

Requirements

  • Previous leadership or management experience in floral, production, restaurant, retail, hospitality, or service environments 
  • Influencing, leading, and delegating abilities
  • Critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and listening skills
  • Self-starter who is energetic, flexible, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong floral design background with exceptional creative talent, preferred
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work weekends and holidays
  • Tobacco-free workplace; adherence to company policy required during working hours
  • Must pass a drug test and background check
